MoritzF (3690), Ruhrpott, Germany May 8, 2008 (swing top bottle) Perhaps a tiny bit darker in colour than the Gründer Hell, but still pale golden with a medium-sized blond foamy head. Compared to its antecessor the aroma of the new release has more emphasis on the malt-character; still moderately sweet but delicately cara-malty with very subtle fruity and restrained herbal hoppy notes. It is the same with the taste: the sour dough character has been replaced by a more aromatic and almost hearty (cara-)malty body; finishes malty and subtle fruity with slightly bitter and herbal hoppy accents, leaving out the former grassy notes. I appreciate the recipe change (08.05.08).
pivnizub (3770), Porúří, Germany May 18, 2008 Bügelverschlußflasche: Clear, pale golden to golden, mid-sized fluffy white head, a bit lacy and slowly collapsing; distinctive pale-malty to strawy nose, backed by a grassy hoppiness; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, almost medium bodied, creamy MF, a bit oily; solid malty-grainy finish fith a distrinctive grassy-hoppy aftertaste. An archetypal Export for thirsty miners, back to the 50’s.........
