Pours Like a glass of cola with a large tan head. The smell is dull roasted malt, molasses. The taste is rich roasted malt, molasses ending dry and crisp. Light+ in body with fine carbonation. Nice stuff.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2015 50cl fliptop bb05/2015, cheers McTapps. Stale aroma of wet cardboard sheets glued together by cheap industrial honey, soggy wort. Taste adds some roast aromatics, never really delving into real charred black Schwarzbier territory, evoking more cheap sugared milk chocolate drink than coffee and dark chocolate, with a pancake syrupy edge. Strange metallic blood quality to the mouthfeel, as if enriched with hemoglobine. Despite all of this pretty drinkable and not offensively bad, just off the Schwarz mark.

Bügelverschlußflasche von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Sehr tiefes, ins Schwarze reichendes Rubinrot, reichlich beigefarbener Schaum.

Thick dense foam, black in colour. Roasty and dry malty aroma. Roasty maltiness begins quite dry and ends with a bitter finish. Refreshing Schwarzbier!

Bottle. Grainy, light hoppy aroma, with very subtle, dark malty, chocolatey notes far in the back. Dry taste with a low to medium bitterness. Disappointing, there is almost no ’schwarz’ in this schwarz.

500ml bottle shared at Jack & Leighton’s Birthday Bash at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell on 13 April 2013. Thanks to whoever brought it along. Dark brown. Paper and caramel on the nose. Grainy and massively sweet malts on the palate. More caramel & toffee. Lots of licorice, dried fruits and molasses. Not bad exactly but not my thing at all.

Swing top bottle, 500 ml, thanks to McTapps! Into a Guinness pint, ABV 4.9% Very dark brown colour on the body, very close to black. Two full fingers of froathy, tan head, with good retention after half of it has collapsed.Spots of lacing left around the glass. Aroma of toasted malts, grass, old hops. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, a bit nutty too, some grass again. Mildly bitter on the aftertaste. Medium thin body, average carbonation. Good dryness on the palate. Overall okay, a bit too nutty for me.
