500ml bottle (bottle conditioned). Lively, opens with a slight fizz, and pours with a very lively and thick bready head. Aroma and looks are both dark brown. Evidently going to be intensely malty and bitter. Which it is. However, it’s more than that. The maltiness is accompanied with sweet light fruits - apple or peach, and the bitterness is very long-lasting, and will sit on the whole surface of your tongue long after swallowing. Delicious strong ale.

A citrus aroma, pouring an amber body and tan head. A funny ale to capture in words. There were certainly fruity flavours, with citrus coming through, but there was something else and it did not sit well with me. The ale was crisp on the palate but I won’t be trying it again for a while. I would not be thinking of recommending it to my better friends.

Rated 1/19/07: Very intriguing beer here, unique would be an understatement. Crystal copper pour, touches of ruby sparkle through. Nice thick white head good retention, slow steady stream of carbonation. The aroma initially stings the nose, it seems sour but I’m not sure if that’s accurate. Let it sit out and warm a bit and the odd scent intensifies (in a very good way). Calm and lightly malty at first, this hen pecks you immediately as the beer hits the back of you mouth. I’m having trouble finding descriptive words here but it’s yeasty with a good dose of sour fruitiness. Sour is prevelent in my head but that doesn’t seem quite right. An entertainingly odd brew that does become rather inviting. Smooth and relatively easy with a remarkable dry finish. One of a kind!

Oh yeah, this is good. Tastes like a stronger, bottle conditioned Speckled Hen and it is thus. Strong taste with lots of citrus evident. It also has that Young’s London style bitter/dry after taste. A belter of a beer!

orange glow with a small pale yellow head medium body with crisp bubbles. sweet lightly spiced floral citrus aroma. the ale has some malty sweetness with a lasting bitter. there is some sour and nuttiness with a bizzare fruittiness. part citrus and part dark fruits, its hard to put a finger on. a unique beer, complicated and interesting

Dark orange colored, little yellow head. Fruity, lemony, somehow licoricy aroma with some flowery hops, mild alcohol also present. Meddium bodied. Flavor is more tangfy and biting with stronger hops, also this licoricy hops and some flowers here. Mild metallic tone in aftertaste with some alcohol and lemony bitterness. Good aroma, tangy flavor is disappointment.

500ml Bottle: Interesting, visually appealing bottle, regardless of it being clear. Even comes with a bit of readin’. I’ve heard of "gushers" but never experienced one of my own.. until now. Lightly cracked off the top and my Hen’s Tooth resembled a Whale’s Blowhole. Once all the fun of trying to properly pour a beer that won’t behave was over I had a nice, cloudy orange coloured brew with obviously significant head. Very malty aroma, lots of sour fruit. The flavour is actually quite nice, solid mix of fruit, malt, and delicate hopping. Not bad at all. THAR SHE BLOWS!

Pour is a bright orange with a big white head with lots of floaties. Aroma is fruity and almost like wine with some malts and candi sugar. Flavor is super vinegar and bitter with lots of dark fruit and some mustyness. Kind reminds me of a red wine. Tasty especially if you like you beer tart and sour.
