tomthompson89 (1460), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 1, 2007 well one of the most lively beers i have seen in a while . very lively after the pour, huge amount of head, think the beer might be slightly skunked like hog towns bottle. intresting tart flavour, nice copper colour with lotsa sediment, slightly doughy flavour, definate hop bitterness and citrus flavour, mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 1, 2007 Bottle. Pours with a massive white soapy head atop a clear copper coloured body. Crisp fruity hops and biscuit aroma. Some pepper spiciness is evident as well. Yeasty bread flavour with an alcohol bite. Twangy kind of tart/bitterness...pretty solid and unusual.
BeerVirgin72 (778), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Feb 1, 2007 Poured from bottle...Nice golden orange color, slight head...I didnt have any eruptions, THANK GOD, but the smell was WAY over powering at first...Very malty and yeasty...LOTS of yeast in the bottle and in the beer...My husband pointed out that I did not decant properly! Hah! Taste was a bit sweet up front, and malty, also bread like, with a bit of a hoppy bitter finish. Decent beer, not exactly what I like... pootzboy (1037), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Jan 31, 2007 Bottle: Poured, or more correctly; "erupted" like a foaming malt geyser...put a clouded tea-colored ale in the glass after the cap settled down. Very effervescent.
Aroma is pungent sweet malt with some underlying wet hay from the Goldings....great pungent bready aroma ( could be the extra maltose syrup)
Medium bodied, creamy mouth feel, malty and rounded yet dry-sparkling character.
Up front you chew on a deep whallop of crystal malts then a nice dose of citrus-piney hopping shows up to give decent balance....mid palate more fruity esters are detected like a rich malty sparkling pear cider...then the dry finish is lightly bitter and spritzy with some toasted caramel tones.
A nice quenching swig with some body to it...like Cooper’s sparkling ale on steroids. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jan 30, 2007 Shoot....I should have read the ratings below before opening this sucker...it litteraly assaulted by face and my nasal passages. A nice dark golden orange ale with a thick lacing off white head, but huge ugly floaties at the bottom of the bottle, rather gross.Aroma of Brett assaults you very musty, but pleasant. In mouth, a rather funky Brett malt, wild ferment, some peppery hops. A rather interesting body...Having tasted the Burton Imperial Ale , I would compare this to the Burton. Not bad....but I wish I didnt loose a quarter of the bottle on my face and carpet. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Jan 29, 2007 Bottle. Red-brown colour with a big bubbly head with a nice creamy lacing. Hoppy aroma with medium maltiness and light citrus. Flavour is bitter and hoppy, some roasty maltiness, slight touch of metal, some fruitiness, bit orange peal. Aftertaste is bitter and slightly malty. Tessic (439), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Jan 28, 2007 The first one of these damn near exploded as soon as I opened it. Completely filling the bottle with all the yeast in the bottom. The second was much better. A beautiful amber colour with a big frothy off white head. One of the biggest i’ve seen in a while. To the nose its yeasty with fruit overtones. First sip is a little overcarbonated. Flavour of yeast fruit and bitter hops with a little smoke thrown in. The finish is bitter right through the palate with that light smoke flavour.
