This was a weaker bottle conditioned ale. Bronzy brown color with nearly non existent white head from the bottle. The aroma is very light, slightly hoppy with maybe a hint of the light malt to come. The flavor is subtle and too simplistic to be great. The pale malt really shines through, but that’s almost it for flavor. No real malt to speak of, no floral/hoppy taste. I like bottle conditioned ales, but this one flew under the radar.

Bottle. Slightly bubbly and ruby, bubbly huge white head that dies quickly. Plenty of bitter hops in the nose. Some aroma of soap. Very carbonated in the mouth, Sweetness, caramel, malts, touch of harsh hops, smoothness in palate and easy drinking. Not great, too carbonated, but a good one to try.

Bottle picked up at Sainsbury’s Kidlington 03-08-06. Poured a bronze colour with exceptional clarity with white medium frothy head. Sweet aroma, leads into a lovely sweet taste with good finishing bitterness. The taste reminded me of when I was a kid walking around Banbury market and getting a bag of cinder toffee, once I got that taste in my mouth I could really think of no other, it really did taste like this very, very nice beer.

A hoppish aroma with a slight malty sweetness is detected. The pour is bronze with a white head and the flavor has hops with a malty sweet balance.

Good taste but not much body. Creamy white head and a bit of sediment. I liked it, but really didn’t live up to expectations.

No surprises with the colour in appearance thanks to the clear bottle, but it also came with a billowing frothy head that lasted a little while. A strong dusty aroma with a tinge of fruit salad tingle that gave some fizz in the nose. Not much bitterness and reasonably dry. Some pineapple and oak are realised on tasting. A fairly weak body, and there’s a bit of an unpleasant tingle from the carbonation. Not bad, but it seems a bit out of it’s depth.

Pours darker than the bottle suggests. Deep, dark bronze with a lofty suds head and decent retention/lacing. Hoppy aromas intermixed with a tangle of dark fruit. Flavors are of complex hops and a slight sweet malt that opens as the beer warms. Mouthfeel is a bit thick, and the finish is of skunky peppered hops. Not bad, I guess, but nothing that jumps out at me, either.

As with many ales - much better at room temp. pours deep amber/brown with a large, but thin and short lasting head. a slighly fruity and hoppy nose, though nothing to write home about. bitter and hoppy, with slighly alcoholic tastes, but again, not too much to report. had just a tad before the BB date to try to use up those active yeasts - but to no avail. not to say it’s bland, but nothing special, and no complexity to speak of.
