yayforbeer (641), Orange Park, Florida, USA Sep 7, 2005 Sampled at Broudy’s Beerfest, Jacksonville, FL 9/03/05. Malty and hoppy. A bit dry with a bitter finish. Not bad. I’ll try this again, since I enjoyed the other similar offerings from Morland, the Old Speckled Hen,
and the Tanner’s Jack. scotty (828), Scotland Sep 6, 2005 Good colour, clear & with a big off white head. Plate abounds with complex flavours, hpos dominate and linger into the nice finish. A sweet maltiness is just noticable at the end..good beer with lots of flavour. Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England Sep 5, 2005 Bottle. Toffee and malt aromas. Fairly dry with a touch of astringency. Quite light bodied for its strength. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Sep 1, 2005 clear dark amber colour, chaotic foam with big bubbles; subtle caramelish nose with touches of prune and cherry; slightly smoked, robust maltiness and a clean palate, a proud bitterness before a long, dry, bitter, fruity and malty finish - very impressive freekyp (900), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA Aug 28, 2005 A tea-like aroma with strong acrid notes drifts from the top of this chestnut solored brew. A fine creamy head sticks around for a while leaving ample lacing. Super bitter with a nagging afterbite, this beer also sports a tart undercurrent of granny smith apples and toffee which are nearly lost in the swath of hoppiness. A bit on the thin side, this is a strong ale you can gulp. A fine pairing with grilled chicken on the BBQ. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany Aug 18, 2005 Bottled. Stale hops aroma with notes of tea and some malty sweetness. Taste is typical English hops with a somewhat herbal, tea-like tinge. Malty, quite dry taste. I loathe this kind of hoppiness. It was hard for me to finish the bottle. MoritzF (4859), Bochum, Germany Aug 16, 2005 (bottle) Clear and deep reddish amber body with a medium foamy slightly tanned head. Floral hoppy and fruity (ripe apples) aroma. Dry and bitter flavour and taste with a fruity palate with nuances of toffee, liquorice and a dry bitterhoppy finish. iamjond (7), England does not count Aug 12, 2005 Very enjoyable. Well worth trying. Can become a little tired to flavor after a few pints.
