| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2003 Scent of hops. Very fancy bottle. Sediment left in bottom of bottle. Strange aroma, difficult to describe but not offensive. Light red with a head that lasted a long time. Some taste of hops, but also more sourness than I would have liked. Finished a little sweet without much aftertaste. The appearance was probably the best thing about this beer. The taste was a disappointment. Like so many British beers, it might have lost something due to the clear bottle. High alcohol taste slightly noticeable. Not bad. thebeertourist (2867), Oslo, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 1, 2006 Bottle. Deep and clear ambercooured beer underneath a rich offwhite head. Floral English hops aroma. Sweet maltiness, a hint of sourness, developing towards a dry, somewhat woody finish. Solid perfumy bitterness throughout as well as warming alcohol. Well above average. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 4, 2006 Imaging my excitment when I, much to my surprise, found a fairly good range of british bottle ales at a bar in Platanias, Crete. The bar was Chalaraa and the beers were not in the menu. I found them when I asked for a look in the refrigerator. I picked the bottle conditioned Hen’s Tooth (BB. 28.02.07) and came back for another one the next day. Light mahogany in colour, beige foam with lots of bubbles. Hoppy aroma. Sweet taste of dark caramel. Lasting malty and bitter finish (31.05.2006).
