3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Stefano (1676) - Esbjerg, DENMARK - SEP 2, 2007
Clear and deep reddish amber body with a medium foamy slightly tanned head. Burnt caramel on the nose. Dry and bitter flavour and taste with a fruity palate with nuances of toffee, liquorice and a dry bitterhoppy finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BREWMUSKCLES (1610) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 3, 2008
nutty chewy sweetness in this sticky velvety brew. decent bitter with an appropriate if insufficient taste of hops. easy and substantive this beer still leaves one wanting. though it does keep you thinking about beer. foamy insubstantial head on this tawny roasty brew. if the carbonation were to keep in the glass this beer could rate a little bit higher but i know it is brewed that way on purpose.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 JonMoore (1573) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 17, 2004
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2005 Bottle (14.11.04) Amber coloured with huge, rocky white head. Extremely lively. Having to wait for minutes to access liquid. Very fresh and spicey aroma. Taste is complex and not at all what I was expecting. Fruity - peach, plums - hoppy, spicey. It has some Belgian Ale characteristics. Lovely sweet and mellow aftertaste. Full bodied with an excellent mouthfeel. One class beer.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Kristall-König (1552) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - JUL 7, 2011
Sehr massiv wirkende Weißglasflasche, die gut in der Hand liegt. Vorrausgesetzt man hat große Hände.
Malzig-fruchtiger Geruch, etwas rauchig. Geschmacklich süß angehaucht, eingerahmt vom Malzaroma. Etwas metallisch. Fruchtige Hintergrundstimmung, dabei etwas alkoholisch. Kaum vorhandener Abgang. Das Bier endet ziemlich abrupt, was sehr schade ist. Etwas Ausklang hätte diesem ansonsten gar nicht mal schlechtem Strong Ale gut getan. Test vom 26.8.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dorqui (1547) - Brescia, ITALY - APR 12, 2005
Dense and creamy foam, discreet persistence. Red color ignited, torbid and lightly bubbly. Intense and decided scent, much bitter. Dry and alcoholic taste, bitter lightly elevated. Not excellent finish even if of good duration. For the lovers of the sort.

After tasting a few English Strong’s with similar characters of late, I get the impression the brewers are emulating ESB’s as far as flavour and just pumping up the alcohol. The drastically needed complexities of the style have all but gone out the window, especially with this one. Tasted from the bottle after a short stay in the cellar, and poured into a large flute glass. Sparkling, burnished copper body with a well-charged flurry of fine carbonation raising up to a compact 1" beige head that showed good retention and left some legs. It looked good! Quite soft and subtle on the nose. Zesty marmalade, citrus fruits and a little toffee; quite pleasant. Quite sweet and aggressively raspy on the tongue, bitter in the back reminiscent of eucalypt leaves. Strong note of burnt sugar came in after a few mouthfuls and belies its rather thin body. Soft in mouthfeel, it has the lightest touch of melonous fruit flavours mid-palate, before all hops and a little alcohol filled the rather short, fresh and lightly warming swallow. Not a bad Bitt...err, Strong Ale! Easy to drink, but a lower ABV would be a better fit. (50cL, 17/02/06)
