Again, clear bottle so skunk warning does apply. Strongest of the Morlands I have had and a little complex. Up front Strong ale smell moves into the pallet. Pale malts, hops and yeast blend with a bitter sweet brown sugar taste. Had this with a good hardy meal and mixed perfectly. Carbonation good but does disappear towards the end. Strong smooth aftertaste with a little hop alcohol bite. Looking forward to trying this again soon, would love to try on tap but would settle for "widget" prepared can. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2002 A good beer, has a nice biterness to it, the aroma is nice but too weak. Sweet enough to cover the 6.5%. I had it very cold, which judging from other posters may have lowered the rating. D (551), Poland
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 17, 2006 Nice fruity aroma, sligtly opaque look. Fruity flavour with hops notes, slightly nutty. Little bitterness only at the end. Don’t feel strong alcohol in this one. Good. MBison (548), Southern Highlands, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2009 Bottle 500 ml. Poured cloudy burnt copper with a large, off-white, rocky head which was mostly lasting. A woody aroma with notes of white pepper, toffee malts, nuts, caramelized dried mixed fruits, dried apricots and hints of spiced cookies. Flavor was a light earthy hop bitterness with toffee malts, all spice, pepper, overripe peaches & apricots, caramel, wood and a spicy/warming finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, an almost chewy mouthfeel and a good length finish. BeerBlockaid (548), Jacksonville, Florida, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2005 The paper insert made more of a fuss about this beer than the beer itself. It was well balanced, but nothing special. Colour was light colour on the bottom and rose up to a darker shade of copper brown. Pour blew up a head nukes everywhere would envy. damn Hiroshima in my glass. Taste, again well balanced, had roasted malts, caramel and some aged hops and yeast. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2005 Pours a beautiful ruby amber with a lasting head and decent lacing. Aroma is a little skunky but not offensive. The flavor is well balanced and satisfying. No aftertaste or lingering bitterness from the hops. A wonderful session beer (too bad I only have one bottle).
