3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle - Caramel and a bit of burnt sweetness. Clear amber with a beige head. Sweet caramel, oaky and a bit sour. Bitterness up front and a bit harsh. Overall not my favorite of the series. A bit rough around the edges.

Bottle. This is nice big ale which bridges complexity and balance very well.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Slight;y malty, sweet aroma, subtle. Nice deep red / amber colour with standard minimal white head. Some good malty flavours going on, beats it’s little sibling and the flavour does linger some medium to deep complexity but no discernible oak vats from what I can get. Satisfying small bubbly mouthfeel. Good for a mass produced, pasteurised beer.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Smell is like a sour beer..taste is a bit sweet and malty, no decernable hops per se but a tad bitter on the finish

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50 cl bottle in a mixed pack from LCBO served cold in a tulip glass. Clear cooper with a full, orange-tan head. Fruity and vinous, some toffee and treacle, dark dried fruits, a little woody, brown sugar, decent. Medium+ body with moderate carbonation. Quite fruity, lightly boozy, brown sugar, a bit of dark rum character, dark dried fruits, a little wood, alright; off-dry with moderate-low bitterness and a long, brown sugar and treacle, fruity finish. Alright.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Pours a dark, amber color with a frothy, long-lasting head with plenty of lacing.
Aroma: Raisins, spicy hops and cereal grains with a woody aroma.
Taste: Initial taste is brandy-like with dark fruits, oak and a subtle taste of liquorice while on the palate. Aftertaste is a perfect blend of sweet, dark fruit flavors and a dry bitter. Mouth-feel is medium with almost no detectable carbonation. A smooth and buttery swallow.
This is a difficult-to-find brew that I’ve been hunting for 3 or 4 years. I am happy to report that it has been well worth the hunt and the wait. This one just might make it into my top-10 list!
