Bottle from Kaledonia, Budapest. Poured a coppery amber body with an off white head. Malty light nose, some raisins. Malty taste, again raisins, some very very light bitterness, no flaws really, not heavy. A nice, full English ale,

0,5 l bottle, Tesco, South Tottenham.
Dark copper coloured beer with a small tan lacing head. Aroma of medium caramel and cocoa, light fruit, some alcohol. Toasted grains, light chocolate and some caramel, with malt and the fruits again. Light vinous tartness with some oak character. Not bad.

Not that keen on ’Old Speckled Hen’, but this is definitely an improvement. Nice rich flavour, not too over powering though.

Bottle from Waitrose. Pours copper with a creamy off-white head. Nice fruity aroma with a hint of spice. Med body. Flavor is moderately dark fruit, with some floral or fruity hop. Though some spicy hop seems part of it. It’s a bit malty, but with the fruit and mild bitter it’s great to me. I was thinking it had similarity to Old Speckled Hen, then I read the description. It’s a very good drink. Perhaps the blending provides some complexity which is confusing me.

Deep copper hue. Strong malty toasty nose. Malty toasty flavour with a slightly syrupy texture. Slight skunky though. Reasonable.
