3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Huge wort nose on pouring - wortiest beer I have ever smelled. Some thin hops as well. Good looking - dark auburn with a soft head. Good full body - crystal malt, some dried fruit, plums, preserve and floral hops with a little tin. Heavy caramel/crysal malt on the finish with some soft bitterness. Pretty darn good and adds up to a premium speckled hen, which is all you could ask for.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 mL bottle. Basically, oaked Speckled Hen. I love Old Speckled Hen. It was one of my early favourites, and still holds a special place in my heart. But it is not a big enough beer to stand up to the oak. It just isn’t. This wasn’t necessary.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Liquid campfire. Pours a translucent copper/bronze...taste is of caramel and toasted oak...smooth, complex, toasty, creamy, semisweet. Wish I had another right now.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle. Dark amber with a white head that lasts seconds. Metallic aromas with a hit of hops and malts. Overwhelmingly boozy malt taste with an oily finish. Decent enough.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle and served in no-nik pint glass: Pours a nice deep amber hue with a creamy slightly off-white head and left good lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of herbal and grassy noble hops(I think some EKG is in there) along with mild, crystal and slight toasted malts. Ever so slight oxidization and oaky notes along the vapours. The taste is very well balanced with a nod of bitterness to offset the sweet malt. Well rounded wood and earthiness lingers upon the palate with a dash of spice, pipe tobacco and butterscotch notes. The addition of the olde ale really adds a layer of complexity to this brew. The mouth feel is actually heavy for the genre, smooth and creamy with a quick dry tannic finish. I really liked this, above expectations and lucky that the clear bottle (damn it anyway) did not bring about any skunky character. Colour this fan of Olde Suffolk impressed! (methinks this would rock on cask!!)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
16.9oz bottle. Pours a deep copper color with a two finger fluffy off white head. Smell of caramel, sweet malts and raisins. Tastes follows aroma with caramel and sweet malts and raisins. Has an underlying oak flavor and some grassy hop bitterness that shows a little through the finish. Mellow and smooth, medium body with moderate carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Caramelliger, rauchig-torfiger Geruch.Stark malziger Antrunk, der in der Mitte einer nicht minder starken Karamell-rauchnote weicht. Bitterer, rauchig-kerniger Abgang. Gutes Bier.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
An odd combo of thinness and stickiness. Nice aroma but poor aftertaste. Alcohol taste is surprisingly strong for 6.5%. Love the decision to go with a clear bottle...I should have excepted that as enough reason to pass on this one, but the 5 years in oak suckered me in.
