"A distinctive malty taste with a satisfying, smooth raisin finish. This delicious dark amber ale is perfect for indulging yourself and your friends."

Pours amber, nice slightly beige foam, stays a bit. Aroma is malty, sweet and hint of hops. Taste is very caramelly, sweetish and mainly malt-forward. Bitterness is there but coming out later and no aromatics at all. Alcohol is warming. I don’t like this heavy, sticky and overly caramelly aftertaste. Can drink this but well, nothing enjoyable.

Kolor: Ciemny bursztyn. W 100% klarowne. Bardzo dużo bąbelków.
Piana: Bardzo słaba. Szybko opada. Drobne oczka. Piana w kolorze złamanej bieli. Słabe krążkowanie.
Zapach : Trochę chmielowy, trochę zbożowy. Lekkie aromaty śliwki i drewna. Po ogrzaniu cała masa karmelu i szczypta toffi.
Smak: Smak wyraźnie słodowy. Dość słodkie w smaku. Delikatne, łagodne i przyjemne. Karmel, toffi, trochę dębiny, śliwki i wanilia. Na dalszym planie ciasto z rodzynkami, nuty chlebowe, a nawet nuty winne. Słaba goryczka. Rozgrzewający alkohol.
Wysycenie: Wysokie. Zbyt duże.
Piwo jest blenedem dwóch innych piw z Browaru Greene King : Old Speckled Hen oraz 14% Old 5X (leżakującego do 5 lat w beczkach dębowych).

Would be nice to sup in a wooden beamed old pub on a rainy autumn’s day. A good supermarket find.

My favourite regular beer. It has it all. Flavour, strength, just about perfect.

Pours clear copper with about a finger of off-white head. Aroma of light toffee, hints of raisin, mostly caramel and rye bread. Taste is sweet and roasty with toffee, burnt butter, raisins, very light bitter finish. Body is light to medium and smooth with soft carbonation.

Amber with a beige head. Moderate carbonation and body.
Aroma: grainy malt with a little wood, oxidation, and brett character..
Smooth and decent, but lacking refined integration of flavor components.

500ml bottle from Waitrose. Auburn brown with a smattering of beige head. Smell of cheap cognac, rain-soaked oak and stone fruit. Full sweet taste with a nice hoppy note in the back of the throat. Full body, and unlike many supermarket bottles, not over-carbonated. It isn’t really my thing, but it’s tasty enough.

500ml Bottle from Tesco, Durham. Pours brownish amber with a very quickly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel and bready malts which carry through in its early flavours. The taste portends becoming overly sweet but thankfully this didn’t happen, with molasses and raisin flavours coming through on a pleasantly complex finish. Decent.
