3.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from mainbrew.com
Gorgeous crystal clear amber color and frothy white head.
Classic brittish Diacetyl nose with some malt, hops, and a touch of skunkiness (clear bottle)
On the palate I get botterscotch, toast, spicy hops and wood. Rich malty body, but not overly so. A touch of skunkiness (clear bottle).
A good mix of old specled hen and old suffolk!
A great beer overall and would buy again, good value! Breweries, please do not put your beer in clear or green bottles!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Lovely aroma of brown sugar and toffee which is found in the taste as well. Great combination between sweet and bitter, bitter towards the aftertaste really gives a nice palate. It also tastes strong but without a big alcohol fug in the back of the mouth which is good. One fine beer I’ll definitely be having again.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Morrisons. Clear, dark copper colour. Thin, dense, off white head. Nose has sugary, dried vine fruit. Caramel. Some ripe banana esters. Taste is rich, vinous sweet, quickly turning light, metallic bitter. Smooth enough mouthfeel. Finish errs toward that metallic bitterness. Starts off great, but tails off somewhat.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/7/2015. Pours clear reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, oak, light vanilla, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, mint, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, oak, light vanilla, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, mint, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and tannic oak bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, oak, raisin, plum, apple, herbal, mint, light pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/tannic notes as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/grainy, and light tannic/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a great English strong ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Really solid amount of oak presence for only being a small blend. A very enjoyable offering.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep amber, pretty clear, quickly dissipating off-white head. Nutty aroma, caramel toffee, bready, a slight vinous barrel note. Big caramel toffee flavour with noticeable oak tannins, and a doughy malt base. It’s quite lively and fizzy, lingering sweetness and dark fruits, medium body. Not bursting with flavour, but enough complexity to keep it interesting.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours amber, nice slightly beige foam, stays a bit. Aroma is malty, sweet and hint of hops. Taste is very caramelly, sweetish and mainly malt-forward. Bitterness is there but coming out later and no aromatics at all. Alcohol is warming. I don’t like this heavy, sticky and overly caramelly aftertaste. Can drink this but well, nothing enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Kolor: Ciemny bursztyn. W 100% klarowne. Bardzo dużo bąbelków.
Piana: Bardzo słaba. Szybko opada. Drobne oczka. Piana w kolorze złamanej bieli.
Zapach : Trochę chmielowy, trochę zbożowy. Lekkie aromaty śliwki i drewna. Po ogrzaniu cała masa karmelu i szczypta toffi.
Smak: Smak wyraźnie słodowy. Dość słodkie w smaku. Delikatne, łagodne i przyjemne. Karmel, toffi, trochę dębiny, śliwki i wanilia.
Na dalszym planie ciasto z rodzynkami, nuty chlebowe, a nawet nuty winne.
Słaba goryczka. Rozgrzewający alkohol.
Wysycenie: Wysokie. Zbyt duże.
Piwo jest blenedem dwóch innych piw z Browaru Greene King : Old Speckled Hen oraz 14% Old 5X (leżakującego do 5 lat w beczkach dębowych).
