Bottle from Waitrose. Pours copper with a creamy off-white head. Nice fruity aroma with a hint of spice. Med body. Flavor is moderately dark fruit, with some floral or fruity hop. Though some spicy hop seems part of it. It’s a bit malty, but with the fruit and mild bitter it’s great to me. I was thinking it had similarity to Old Speckled Hen, then I read the description. It’s a very good drink. Perhaps the blending provides some complexity which is confusing me.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Nice dark orange to reddish color, decent sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, dried fruits, raisins. Tastes about the same: malts, raisins, dried fruits, slightly bitter. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle. Poured dark copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate grassy hop and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a smooth bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Soft drinkable beer.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml from Tesco, Banbury. Deep Orange Amber with white head. Rich malty flavours initially, with a molasses grainy effect, burnt and mouthcoating, then an unfortunate pasteurisation, cardboardy note followed by a fruity, sugary finish. Shame about the middle part as it was proving to be a very decent beer.

Bottle - Caramel and a bit of burnt sweetness. Clear amber with a beige head. Sweet caramel, oaky and a bit sour. Bitterness up front and a bit harsh. Overall not my favorite of the series. A bit rough around the edges.

Aroma is dried fruits, light caramel and nutty notes, moderate toast and cookie malt, and minty, herbal hops. Flavor is lightly bitter dried fruits and minty hops, light sherry oxidation, caramel notes, toast and cookie malt, and a sweet finish. Medium body and light carbonation with a mild alcohol warmth.

Bottle @ Beer Exposed, September 2008.
Pours a pretty, clear, brownish amber with a weak, film head. Aroma has some lemons, caramel, dark candied sugars. A good, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is a tad unbalanced, a little oak and caramel. Okay, but not overly impressive.
