Deep copper hue. Strong malty toasty nose. Malty toasty flavour with a slightly syrupy texture. Slight skunky though. Reasonable.

Tastes very much like the original Old Speckled Hen, excep with more alcohol which leads to an oily palate

Oak, vanilla and toffee aromas with smooth flavoursome taste. Nice bronze colour with slight carbonation. Refreshing with slight warmth of alcohol reflected in the ABV. Nice beer.

Lightly malty, plenty of caramel and decent bitter hops. Alcohol a bit evident but an enjoyable beer.

At just on cool and into a Speckled Hen glass. Points for being an attractive number. Fiery copper and bright. Almost still bar a few tight bubbles. Head is a creamy wafer of white that just holds for the length. Very English is the nose. Peated, chewy toffee malts; bready and toasted with a subtle praline nuttiness and hint of floral, earthy hops. Sweet at this temperature, and even sweeter as it warms. Quite nutty, distinctly Speckled Hen in character. Quite thin but relatively rounded with a spritzy finish and soft finish. Soapy, slick in the swallow. A touch woody, earthy, and floral. Hops are subdued. A touch too much burnt toast and rubber builds late into drinking. This is just Ok. I wasn’t expecting much and it certainly delivered. (50cL, BBE 03/15, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Pour is a hazy caramel with a medium cream colored head that disapates quick. Aroma is lite but nice malt and caramel.full of flavor caramel and a touch bitter. A nice creamy mouth feel that coats the palate.

Aroma: Nutty English malts prevail with a light toffee sweetness and a jigger of raisin liqueur. Appearance: Rich, amber/coppery color with pleasant natural carbonation; firm tan head settles into a mostly present, bubbly skin. Flavor: Nutty up front with a surprising oak touch entirely missing from the nose (my nose, at least); sweetish toffee and raisin finish things out. Palate: Medium body, slightly creamy texture, average carbonation, lingering finish. Overall: Liked this more than I thought I might (didn’t expect much from the clear glass bottle, and wasn’t a big fan of Old Speckled Hen). A lovely complement to my Labor Day brunch.

Poured from a bottle that is almost a year out of date. Dark copper with a small light-brown head. Aroma is caramel, nuts, alcohol. Flavour is the same followed by a bitter aftertaste. This is a good beer.

Tap @ Olutravintola Konttori.
Pours clear copper color with a small steady head. Malts and hay oink the nose, caramel, nuts and faint toffee. Caramel malts, nuts, some bread and sweet fruits on the flavor, maybe some grain also. Creamy thick palate, full-bodied, and tasty.
