Crafted by the master brewer of ’Old Speckled Hen’, this strong fine ale combines a distinctive malty taste with a satisfying smooth raisin finish. Brewed with a blend of 5x this is a delicious dark amber ale.

On cask at the Booking Office. Appearance - golden with a nice head. Nose - pale malt mostly. Some citrus. Taste - more citrus and pale malt. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - the sum of the parts etc, etc!

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW - London. Pours clear copper with a lasting, creamy off-white head. Toasty bread in the nose, with suggestions of caramel and ripe berries. Light-medium sweet flavour with sturdy earthy bitterness, more bread, toffee, old leathery fruits, dates. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. A little sticky on the finish, with more ripe berries, brown bread, some fruitcake. Not bad.

Cask handpull at The Crosse Keys Bishopsgate as ’Morland Old Crafty Hen Oak Aged Vintage’. Dark bronze dark orange brown, translucent and still, diminishing foam. Aroma is toffee, quite airy. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is rounded malts, toffee, twig and spice, rum, woody, musty, oak. I actually quite like this. Rounded full flavour with oak showing up and not oversweet. Very good English Old Ale.

Cask hand pull at the crosse keys Jdw. A reddy copper coloured pour with a lasting sticky speckled off white head. Aroma is sweet toffee, brown sugars, liquorice, jammy fruits, burnt toffee. Flavour is composed of medium sweet layered malts, unrefined sugars, burnt toffee and treacle. Some tangy fruit cake vibes. Palate is medium sweet, tangy, warming alcohol. Medium bodied. Lingering harsh. Solvent alcohol, rum.

An interesting offering. There weren’t any off-flavors but the combination of soft tannin, toffee and raisins just don’t go together as well as you’d think. Maybe a smoother nitro pour would be more ideal here.

Deep amber beer with a small white head. Caramell and malty aroma. Dark fudge, fruity, malty sweet flvour with some bitter notes. Too sweet for me :-(

Cask at The Wharf, Aalborg, Denmark
Red amber color with small creamy head, nice lace. The aroma is very mild, malt and sugar. Soft and round mouthfeel; it has caramel flavor and correct bitterness, with light nutty/herbaceous touch and unfortunately some metallic feeling too.
Waste of the good 5X.

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. An amber beer with a fluffy beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and butterscotch. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, butterscotch, and spices, leading to a smooth finish.
