Bottle, grocery store, Norway. Pours a nice dark golden colour, no visible head. The aroma is quite fruity, a scent of citrus. Mouthfeel is a bit watery but a nice fruity and bitter aftertaste. Not bad at all.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark straw-yellow colour with a off-white and a bit compact head. Pretty hoppy aroma which reminds me of the pellet itself. Grassy but also fruity and sweet, and some herbs. Grassy hops in the flavour as well, some hay, peaches and hints of spices. Soft and a bit watery mouthfeel. Bitterness = light+. A good ale, nice flavours and a perfect summer ale.

Very acidic initial taste, but with a lot of fruit as well. Quite bitter underneath which I wouldn’t normally like, but it contrasts well with the fruit here. Very smooth finish. Overall very pleasant.

The Old Speckled Hen used to be my official pub quiz beer nearly a decade ago, let’s see how its newly arrived sibling is! It pours a good-looking crystal clear, golden, sparkling body. The head is off-white and reduces to a fully lasting layer quickly, and some foam sticks to the glass. The aroma is quite strong and surprisingly crisp and pleasant: it’s very citric with lots of lemon, also other fruits, herbs and caramel. The taste is light plus sweet, light acidic and ends in a moderate bitter finish that is quite long-lasting. The flavours are dominated by very crisp and delicious notes of lemon and lime, there are also some faint spicy hints and all this acidity and crispness is backed up by a solid malty caramel backbone. How fun to taste a citric beer that isn’t dominated by the usual grapefruit! It’s incredibly drinkable and has a wonderful smooth mouthfeel and moderate to soft carbonation. It’s not a complex brew by any means, but sometimes clean and simple is all you need.

500 ml clear bottle, from Meny Aksdal. ABV is 4.1%. Drunk from a plastic glass in a hotel room in Denmark. Deep golden colour, pours fizzy with big bubbles, white head disappears instantly. Heineken-like lightstruck "skunky" aroma first, also sweetish notes of toffee, hints of caramel and ripe berries. Fizzy mouthfeel. Some fruity notes, hints of toffee again, tolerable bitterness in the finish, but not very exciting. Drinkable, but won’t buy again.

Flaske 0,5l fra Eurospar Kræmer i Tromsø. Drukket i heimen 25 Jun 12. Gyldenbrun. OK kremaktig skum som varer en god stund. fester seg litt til glasset. Sterk maltaroma med innslag av syrlig frukt. Myk munnfølelse. Lite kullsyre. Smaken har bra fylde. Maltdrevet med en syrlig vri. Ypperlig tørsteslukker. Her er det mye smak for alkoholstyrken!

500 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a white head. Mild but quite nice aroma of sweet malt and grassy hops with a touch of citric fruit. Flavor is sweet, soft malt, slightly fruity and moderate bitterness. Light in style, quite refreshing, medium body, not so much aftertaste. Decent golden ale, but nothing special going on here. Easily forgotten.

A fantastically citrusy ale with lots of floral notes, which is so refreshing and easy to drink. This is my favourite sunny day beer, a really tasty golden ale.

Im not sure if the intent was to attract lager drinkers to thier fold, but if they were it might just work with this one. Im a massive fan of Speckled Hen and jumped at the chance to try this one, I was disappointed....sorry. Colour was good. Taste was fair but nothing special. Pleasant enough aftertaste with feint citrus taste. NOT a classic though......sorry

Medium offwhite head. Clear coppery body with carbonation. Light caramelly peppery aroma with perfumy orangey notes. Dryish peppery fruity perfumy taste with orangey papery notes. Mid-bodied. Fizzy mouthfeel. Dry mealy papery orangey aftertaste with dusty perfumy notes. Not bad, but a bit perfumy for me. (0.5l bottle, Meny Ringnes Park, Oslo.)
