3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 mrmartin (560) - Oakland, California, USA - DEC 7, 2012
Clear Golden pour with small off-white head. Smooth sweet very pale malts slightly fruity and marginally hopped. Dryish finish. Easy drinking but nothing terrible exciting for the palate

On tap at Global Brew. Decided to rate here as it was on tap versus bottle, but not cask either. Pours a bright pale golden color with an OK white head that diminished fairly quickly. Taste was a smooth mouthcoating sweet very pale malt with little hop bitterness and a bready character. Very much like a Boddington’s. Pretty good.

Cask at the Junction - St Denys (So’ton) - 09/09/12.
Clear golden with a thin slightly off-white head.
Light hops, malt, fruit and citrus on the nose.
Tastes of malt, background citrus and a little spice in the finish. Getting that GK taste, the yeast strain etc!
Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Moorland golden hen
Mid amber coloured ale with a weak white head. Faint hop aroma, citrusy and a tad floral. Weak mouthfeel. A dry taste to start, with a biscuity malt flavour that is followed by the citrusy floral hop element from the aroma. A touch fizzy in the finish. Tasted at The Lodge, Old Hunstanton, Norfolk.

Cask at Nutwell Lodge near Exmouth. Decent ale to accompany my carvery: blonde, nice head and good lacing; mildly hopped with a light hint of honey in the finish. Very little aroma but this was a perfectly refreshing session ale, reminiscent of Harvest Pale though not quite as dry. Particularly good given this is by Greene King, who are generally not my favourite brewer.

Cask handpull, The Blue Pig, Wolvey, 14/07/12. Lager-gold with a thick shaving foam top. Some good resiny orange and pine in the aroma. Bright and juicy with a good smack of orangey hop over soft oatmeal and vanilla. Fades into bitterness. Alright. Actually, it’s almost good. A grudging 3.3 from me.
