Crafted by the master brewer of Old Speckled Hen, this hoppy pale ale is bursting with flavour and aroma. It is brewed with the finest pale and crystal malts as well as the American Chinook hop to give a fresh grapefruit hop character. The addition of rye malt adds a touch of spiciness. Old Hoppy Hen is perfect for all occasions and best enjoyed chilled with friends.

500ml Bottle. It pours a dark golden body topped with what is at first quite a dense head but it soon goes leaving thin lacing. Its aroma is not exactly "bursting" but there is malts and a hint of grapefruit. Its taste is full of malts and the hop inspired grapefruit but theres is also a spiciness and subtle hints of dark chocolate ending in a dry bitter finish. One of Greene Kings better beers but not a top 10 beer.

Not bad at all. Very nice hops. Something a bit strange there is that disturbes a little.

Clear golden brown with thin white head. Nice aroma with citrus and pine hop notes, with some toasty biscuity hints. Light body, medium somewhat fizzy carbonation. Hops feature in the taste from start to finish, but are not aggressive. They give a nice citrusy freshness at the start and a good bitterness in the finish. However there isn’t really enough balance in terms of malt or other flavours. Nice bitter hoppy beer but seems unbalanced.

Amber to light brown. Strong citrusy aroma. Flavour also has bitter and sharp citrus peel. Pleasant malty background too.

Bottle from Tesco. Some grassy hop character, quite smooth but a little thin in the palate and not especially satisfying. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled, 500ml from Tesco in Banbury. Orange brown with fast disappearing white head. Boiled vegetable notes in the aroma leading to a dry caramel character within the beer, there is a citric note although more Washing up liquid than fresh lemon. Not great.

500ml bottle from Tesco, Corstorphine. Pours clear copper, thick off-white head. Aromas are metallic, light citrus, caramel malt. Taste is quite bitter, but lacks a citrus punch, just bitter. Light body, thin finish. Ok.

Bottle from local shop in Eastbourne shared with McTapps. Starting off easy going with hops, delivering some smoothness but then changing into a bitter brew brew with unbalanced hops, straw and hay. Drinkable, but after that unpleasing bitter finish this one is just mediocre.
