COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular.
Ingredients: Pipkin pale malt; Crystal malt; brewers sugar; Bittering hops: Challenger; Aroma hops: Goldings and Challenger; Morland yeast.
New beer introduced in Aug 2006 to replace the original 5.2% Morland Old Speckled Hen.
It’s rich amber colour and superb fruity aromas are complemented by a delicious blend of malty yastes. Toffee and malt combine with bitterness on the back of the tongue to give a balanced sweetness. This is followed by a refreshingly dry finish.

I’ve had this in bottles quite often, but this is a review of a couple of pints from the Craster Arms in Beadnell Northumberland: they were clear amber with a thin fading white head. I always find this quite fruity and resiny with a good hop balance. I have to say the reduced carbonation in the cask version improved the experience for me.

On Cask @ Kelly’s Gingernut Pub-Amber pour with a full, tan, creamy head. Flavors of bread dough, some toffee, not much "cask" flavor to it. Ehhhh, nothing special.

Cask in the Lion NW6. Quite a full copper/brown colour, and aromas of fruit. A fruitier bitter with some bitterness on the palate, but feels slightly muddied and flavours don’t come through clean. The bottle is a bit better than I’ve ever found on draught.

Cask. Orange amber beer with slight bubbly head. The beer is very much indicative of the pub, both noow owned by Greene King. The Pub was once a classic, a regualr in The national archive of historic pubs, now a sad, fading shell. The beer mirrors this, once saving a struggling brewery now a mish mash of a mid range bitter, a little dry, contains the GK tea like hop note and quite poor. You should be ashamed of yourselves Greene King.

Served a copperish-amber color with a small head and ample lacing. Mild aroma that is of malt and sweetness and some grain. I expected a bit more. Taste is a mixture of sweetness and malt with an easy bitterness and dry finish. Fairly moderate body, crisp and quite smooth. Not quite the beer I remember from the old days when I was working in England, but it was still nice to meet with an old friend so to speak. Sort of middle of the road for the style. Cask. Slightly hazy amber with a somewhat rough off-white head. Nutty aroma with brown sugars. Medium body, low carbonation, somewhat pruney, licorice and flower notes and a lightly bitter finish. 070711

Pint in Globe, Baker St. Pours copper, thin head. Aroma is sweet caramel and fruity hops. Taste is caramel, fruity hops but it’s fairy thin in the mouth and watery.

Cask at The Windmill, Whiteley Green. I work with a guy who raves about this and drinks nothing else. Sorry beast, it does nowt for me. Brown / red with off white yellowed head, good lacing. Some fruit, caramel, hops, roasted malts, water. Dull as dish water.
