Hand-pulled at The Goose at the OVT, Selly Oak, B’Ham. Cooled. Amber, a little cloudy at first, medium-sized creamy head. Citrus scent, sweet flavour, with aromas of melon and a hint of orange. Pity that it’s thin on the palate.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
[Cask at Cockney Pub, Århus] A clear amber beer with a small orange head. The aroma has notes of yeast, malt, and nuts. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and nuts, leading to a nice slightly bitter end. Very easily drinkable.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask at the Plough, Wolvercote, Oxon 25-04-06. Amber coloured and the like the Ruddles County I had before with a small head that quickly dissapeared. A smooth tasting and maltyish beer that slips down well doesn’t quite taste like a 5%+ beer but otherwise very good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A lovely beer, especially when you are drinking it at the ’Broad Face Inn’ within stones throw of the brewery. It presents like a typical English ale and is great at cellar temperature. I enjoy the toffeeish note and the use of the English style hops. Here in Oz it is OK on tap but is too cold.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at the Eagle in Cambridge.
Pours a dark red-brown with a lovely slightly-sour aroma of nuts and berries coupled with gentle grassy hops. I get the malty tones of a brown ale, coupled with a lovely bitters finish and mouthfeel, with a bit of fruit tossed into the mix as a bonus.
Certainly a very enjoyable choice at a Greene King pub.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(cask @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Deep ruby color with a puffy tan head. Aroma is very sweet and malty with a touch of cherries and other fruits. Taste begins with a nice and smooth malt taste, a fruity and malty middle and a crisp and dry malt finish. Some hops, but not too much.

A dark amber coloured beer with a fairly strong creamy white head. A sweet malty nose with a hint of ripened fruit. A dry maltiness in the taste to begin with, followed by a smooth syrupy sweet finish.
