COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular.
Ingredients: Pipkin pale malt; Crystal malt; brewers sugar; Bittering hops: Challenger; Aroma hops: Goldings and Challenger; Morland yeast.
New beer introduced in Aug 2006 to replace the original 5.2% Morland Old Speckled Hen.
It’s rich amber colour and superb fruity aromas are complemented by a delicious blend of malty yastes. Toffee and malt combine with bitterness on the back of the tongue to give a balanced sweetness. This is followed by a refreshingly dry finish.

Brewery grains aroma is faintly beery. Clear, brown amber body with a small long-lasting creamy off-white head. Grainy yeast flavour has a hint of lemon. Medium body has a fruity bitterness.

Its ages since I had this, and even longer since I had it on draft. It tasted good! Great standard British bitter. Light hop and light bitterness. Very easy to drink and get into a session. I don’t care it’s that mass produced it hit the spot at the time.

I hate it when breweries lower the ABV because of the taxman and then don’t lower the price at the pumps! Anyway: this is a rate for a hand-pulled pint in The Nottingham, Cleethorpes on 9th Nov 2012. Amber body, the head a thin layer of large bubbles. It wasn’t long before the weedy white foam had turned into a collar only, although a little lacing followed the beer down the glass. The smell was minimal, some sweetish malts and hints of hops, but not a lot of anything (just like the original OSH). The taste was sweetish, malty molasses and all that jazz. Mid-body strength, it was fine I suppose, just would have liked a bit more ’umph’ and alcohol within the brew.

Gravity dispense at the ’Quinns Head’ pub inside Twickenham Stoop Rugby ground during half time of the Harlequins vs Salegame - 15/09/12. Clear mid amber with a thin white head. Nose is unmistakenly GK - yawn! Mild malt, light toffee, slightly musty. Taste follows with a little nutiness and dirty wood. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Rated it now - no need for it to darken my doors again!

Cask@thebeeches, Birmingham. Small amount of toffee aroma. Pint looks great long lasting large head brown liquid creamy on the tongue. The taste is generous bitter hops and caramel.
