Cask version was first brewed in 1979 by Morland Brewery to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon. The name comes from the MG factory’s works car - the gold speckled MG Featherweight Fabric Saloon, affectionately known as the Ol’ Speckl’d ’Un.
Brewed since 1999 by Greene King following the take-over of Morlands
Bottled Old Speckled Hen has been sterile filtered in the "Old Speckled Hen Hall" bottling facility since May 2006.

Nothing extremely fancy but a solid English bitter. I could easily drink a couple of bottles of this beer in a night.

Barwa miedziana. Piana nienajlepsza, ale jakos się trzyma. Aromat słodowy, słodkawy i trochę mdlący.

Skunky, clear bottle. Co-op, Edinburgh CIty. Pours ruby-red with no head. Scent is sweet and floral. Taste is medium bodied malt. Palette is a bit weak but overall decent.

Pours a clear amber/ golden with a creamy slghlty creme head. Aroma is sweet malts with some very faint floral hops. Flavor is sweet malts with some cardboard oxidation and a touch of flowery english hops. Medium to light palate. Not offensive "pub bitter"

Can. Pours a mostly clear darker amber color with a large nitro-ish head on there. Nose seems very creamy and smells like a mix of grains. Taste also has grains and is slightly bitter. Not a lot to like in this one, though it’s ok.

Discreta ale, colore arancio abbastanza limpido e con poca schiuma. Malto in evidenza. Corpo medio. Non mi ha impressionato.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Clear, caramel-orange with a small khaki head and fair lacing. Aroma of brown bread, biscuits, caramel and a faint trace of hops. Taste of brown bread, floral hops, toffee and caramel. Medium body and medium/high carbonization. Maybe the flavor is similar, but I enjoy the tap (keg) version better--if only for its large gorgeous head. By comparison, this bottled version has a disappointingly small head and little lacing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
