My favorite bitter. Pours deep copper in color with a small dense head. Aromas of caramel and toffee. Same goes for flavor, with a nice bitterness to balance the sweetness from the malts. Medium body. A great ale.

You can’t slay an English prince with pasteurisation, filter and gas. You just wear it away to mediocre. This is a lovely style of beer calling out to us from the past. English hops topping malt sweet and dry bitter. Must brew a real ale clone to rediscover its greatness.

From a can with widget. Pours a clear copper color with thick creamy head. Aroma is sweet roasted malt and some dark fruits. Taste follows the aroma. Real smooth easy drinking beer . medium mouth feel. Very tasty!

Bottle @ home. Clear mahogany color with thin creamy off-white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of herbal hops, caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Taste starts with moderate sweet toasted malt and caramel, following is mild fruity with honeyish notes and medium bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture and average carbonation in palate.

Very good English Ale. Smooth flavor, not bitter and not that strong. Good to watch Arsenal loose to Chelsea! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
