Commercial Description:
Pasteurised in bottles and nitro cans. Also available as "Smooth" from nitro tap.
Cask version was first brewed in 1979 by Morland Brewery to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the MG car factory in Abingdon. The name comes from the MG factory's works car - the gold speckled MG Featherweight Fabric Saloon, affectionately known as the Ol' Speckl'd 'Un.
Brewed since 1999 by Greene King following the take-over of Morland Brewery.

12 ounce bottle- poured out an interesting orange gold with a substantial and long-lasting head. Aroma was hops, hops and more hops. Taste was yeasty with a standard lager bite. Palate was a little thin for my taste. Not bad over-all.

Dark amber with medium head that quickly dissapears. Tastes like a fruity, run of the mill lager. Not good.

Can. Started out great when it poured a clear amber brown with a great big, beige/light brown lasting creamy head with a nice lacing. But then it went downhill from there. Aroma is a sweetish cereal one with slight fruity notes. Not very good – like a cheap lager really. Flavour is sweet and malty with notes of yeast and ends in a sweet and metallic finish with a lingering mild bitterness and notes of alcohol. Cheap. It doesn’t work for me. To top it off, the palate felt stale. Moving on… 26-06-08.

Blast from the past in a bottle, when it used to have a real ABV. Dark ruby, thin white head. Aroma is slightly fruity malts, some brackishness. Mouth is malty, lots of winter fruit, lots of caramel, slight yeast. Good.

Bottle: Pours a bit darker than I anticipated, with a thin white head. Not much to speak of as far as aroma though. The color is somewhat deceiving, misleading you to expect something with much more flavor. It’s pretty boring though, and feels watered down. The initial flavor of some hops and malt, also some bitterness, but all dissipates quickly.
