Aarleks (400), Sydney, Australia Dec 5, 2007 Handpump at Pub on the Park, London: Clear brown amber with a nice frothy head. Toasty, biscuity, honey malts in the nose with some vinous echoes floating around. Toasty biscuit malts and astringent toffees in the mouth. All undone by some unpleasantly rough herbal hops late palate.
wyzzywyz22 (294), Wirral, Merseyside, England Jun 8, 2008 Cask, George Inn, Southwark. Darkish brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma vaguely floral with some malt and hop. Flavour is more malt with a woody tinge. Dry bitter finish. Acceptable, which the gross office block that blights the exterior of the George is not.
wheresthepath (210), Buckinghamshire, England May 15, 2008 [on draught at the County Arms, Reading] Hint of red fruits, a bit of oakiness, but really just a very average beer. Easy to drink, but a nasty metallic astringent aftertaste - just like GK Ruddles County. Not good - do GK muck up all the beers they take over? bhensonb (2832), Woodland, California, USA Apr 26, 2008 As George Inn Ale at the George on March 30, 2007. Nice amber color with a ferocious white head. Starts peachy, a little malt follows, and the finish is rather dry and nicely bitter. Magic_dave6 (3642), London, Greater London, England Jan 18, 2008 Cask in station bar. Luckily someone had just had a pint of this poured as otherwise they give you whats been sittin in the pipes which is super warm. Aroma is minimal, grassy hop and slight apple note. Taste is similar noteable green kings apple yeast character. Doppelganger (1112), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Dec 28, 2007 Cask, Christmas Day at the Waterman’s Arms, Osney Island. Copper, just off-white head. Soft candy hops and a touch of rustic farmy smell. Nice leafy bitterness, softly sweet malt with a little bit of husk to the finish. A respectable bitter, and better than most of the offerings from GK.
