Remnant from the old Morlands Abingdon Brewery now brewed in Bury st Edmunds.
A smooth-tasting, cask-conditioned ale enhanced to offer an elegant happy floral nose, a nutty malty palate and a lingering malty sweetness.

First tasted this in the Hogshead, Paisley in September 1996. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear amber in colour with a thin white head. Dry hop flowers evident in the short nose. Thin watery mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a digestive biscuit base with short fruit notes of tart redcurrants. Hop resins give a metallic, astringent tang to the aftertaste. Hint of sweet caramel and hazelnut flavours creep into the malty finish. An ok session bitter but nothing exceptional either.

Despeate cask at a Green King pub ...Wow it suprised me. its no great shakes, but this was respectable ... Copper with a light malt nose ... light sweet fruity caramel ... all in all not bad.

Cask (handpump) at the Bricklayers Arms, Midhurst, West Sussex. I’d somehow not rated this beer before so I was quite pleased (insofar as I can ever be pleased to see a Greene King beer) to see it on offer at this pub on an overnight stop when I was not expecting to get any scoops. Unfortunately it was obviously not in good condition. Rather sharp, bordering on sour. Amber colour, some touches of fruity malt from what I could tell. Not quite undrinkable but certainly not too pleasant. I often don’t rate beers in bad condition but, as it was a Greene King tied house, I have no problems in doing so. Earmarked for re-rate some time. Bah!

Full pint hand pulled from cask outdoor seating at The Jolly Sailor in Maldon. Clear, deep brown body colour under a thin, bubbly head. Hints of plain malt to the nose. Malty flavoured character with dark caramel and a note of resin. Light bitter ending (05.05.2008).

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. An amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and fruit - especially oranges. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel as well as lighter notes of fruit, wood, and flowers. The body is thin.
