Roasted coffee and almonds in smell. Touch of smoky bacon. Black malts. Light on the mouthfeel. A sessional porter. Does get better when warmer.

Can’t fault it. Complex, smoky flavour, bitter enough, good balance, nice aftertaste. On tap at the Wheaty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours jet black with an espresso crema head that is quite thick for a porter. Looks very inviting, however the head fades to a small level of lacing very quickly. Strong milk chocolate aroma with some indication of a bitter cocoa finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Some coffee aftertaste. Excellent brew

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very light roasted aroma along with sweet vanilla scents. Dark pour with a tan retaining head. A few too many berry notes coming through on the taste. Not overly carbonated, but an overall thin feel.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Dark brown with frothy, tan head that dissipates quickly. Big milk chocolate aroma with a back note of vanilla. Chocolate malt which leads into a gently astringent coffee flavour. Well hopped creating the requisite dryness and bitterness. Perfect carbonation creates a smooth mouthfeel.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Alongside the Brown and infamous Imperial Stout, the MPB crew are definitely proving how good they do dark beers with this excellent porter.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Royal Alberts hotel. Nothing to write home about porter, with the standard coffee and some dark chocolate flavours. Quite a weak watery body was it largest downfall.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 330 ml bottle. Pours a fairly solid dark brown with just a little honey highlight at the edge. Small tan head that diminishes fairly quickly. The aroma is dominated by rich roast coffee, with some lighter malt and chocolate notes. Taste starts out with a lighter fruit note (raisins?) before a robust black coffee bitterness comes through. Touch of smoke as the beer warms. Cocoa nibs and spice at the end. Lingering but light chocolatey finish. Like it a lot.
