Rich and smooth with chocolate and coffee notes that linger on the palate.

Ermahgerd! Why have I overlooked this one for this long. This was a surprise in the best sense.
Day 10 of my advent calendar.
At just on and into a snifter. Lustrous sheen to a smooth, tight and compact tannish crown. Black as midnight in the deep with darkest showing in the shallows. Huge nose oozing with dusty cocoa, roasted coffee beans and carob, scorched timber, rust and blood, and a little star anise. It starts sweet with mocha cola notes before a drawing bitter malt back-end showcasing all the character of thee aroma. Moderate carbonation fades as it heads towards the tonsils to be oily smooth in the finish. Big roasted malt nuances make it simple yet complex with a hand given of vanilla. The alcohol oddly evident aides instead of abets. A highly quaffable Porter. NIce!! (33cL, Boozebud)

bottle from warners at the bay. clear black with a modest beige head; plenty of chocolate in the nose with hints of vanilla bean and coffee; firm but light with a good dose of burnt toast, hints of clotted cream, decent bitterness; very moreish

Pours full and black with light tan head. Aroma is bitter chocolate, weak coffee and toast. Flavour is robust without the smoothing sweetness that balances out a truly great porter. Still a great example of the style which goes down very easily. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at MoVida. Rich dark brew, heady aromas of coffee, soy sauce. Smooth as silk and perfect dryness. Subtle smokiness and liquorice flavour went brilliantly with tapas. Very classy.

Opaque and black with large aerated head. Strong milk chocolate and cocoa on the nose, some plum and vanilla. The taste has molasses, burnt caramel, dark chocolate, cocoa, a little ash. Light bodied and peppery on the tongue. Not bad.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. A pretty solid porter all round. Nothing crazy here but it does a good job at being balanced and has a pleasing dry cocoa feel to it. Nice stuff

On tap at The Tipplers Tap. Pours black with a thin tan head, chocolate aroma, not overly thick with roasted flavours a smooth finish. I really like this a lot.

What a sweety this one is, dark and roast, some vanilla and coffee but not enough to cover the sweetness. Just love a Porter in the cooler times of a Qld winter. Very nice.

Pretty much black with a tan head. Full bodied. Aroma is dark malts, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and brown sugar. Full bodied and silky smooth. Flavor is chocolate, light coffee, roasted malt, and a bit of vanilla. Finish is sweet and velvety. It’s a little too sweet, but extremely tasty regardless. Highly enjoyable porter and great on this cold Melbourne night.
