1L squealer. Pours think glugy black with a nice dense mocha crown atop. Wonderful nutty/chocolate aroma with very faint coffee hints. Amazingly complex flavour within which the sweet dark chocolate dominate with some citrus hops? and also a bitter espresso coffee. Truly and excellent Imp stout.

Cola colour with a brown head that dissipates into a ringlet. Roasted coffee and nuts to the aroma. Strong and bitter, really cloying - quite nice though.

(Bottle) Opaque shiny black with the tiniest tan head. Pleasant complex aroma including raisins and hints of chocolate. Very full body, almost approaching syrupy, with soft creamy carbonation. The taste is full and rich and rather difficult to pin down. The start has a nice sweetness of the rich Christmas pudding variety (although without the spices) which steadily develops balancing tougher flavours including smokey burnt notes, alcohol bite and bitterness. The finish of sticky rich sweetness balanced with bitterness lasts a long time. Fantastic beer.

Aromas of raisin, roasted coffee and chocolate rise up from the dirty brown head atop this pitch black beer. The alcohol is prominent on both the nose and in the tasting, but in spite of that it’s very smooth. It has a lovely creamy palate and tastes a little like a Bailey’s. My only criticism is that it’s a little short.

On tap the Scratch. Black with a tan head. Aroma is yeasty roast. Taste is roasted smooth bitterness. Smooth. Palate is overdone bitter gear, but not awful. Overall, a very good Russian imperial.

On tap. Jet black pour with tanned head. Nose full of chocolate and dark fruits. Very dark chocolate driven. Subtle roasted coffee in there too. Liquorice and raisins come through as well. Incredibly smooth. Mouth left coated in choc. Very nice imperial stout alcohol hidden well

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours black with a dark tan head.
Nose shows strong roasted malt and coffee along with some floral notes and booze.
Big roasty and boozy flavours too, a little harsh in the finish. Some sweet malt presents itself underneath.
Could use a bit more carbonation.

Really good RIS. It gives the likes of wild thing a run for its money. Black pour, beautiful flavours of coffee and cocoa. A little watery at times but overall a thoroughly enjoyable stout.
