Bottle thanks to Bursprak @ blind taste. Pours black with a nice brown head. Aroma of liquorice, figs, chocolate, roasted malts, cocoa beans and fudge. The taste is sweet but yet roasted with liquorice, chocolate, bitter roasted coffee and some cocoa. Very nice.

On tap at Tomahawk Bar 060615. This is a big beer that is not be be messed with. Thick black and syrupy looking. While the aroma is quite moderate the flavour is anything but. Thick in the mouth but smooth as silk. The booziness is well contained.

Bottle: Thanks Owen: Chouffe glass. Close to pitch black with a brown head. Aroma has tones of liquorice, roast, soy, hint of gingerbread, some dark roasted liquid malt and liquid bay leaf. Flavour has some good liquorice tones with some roast and rubber, deep malt roast, light sticky... Very interesting.. Aftertaste is bitter, deep roast, liquorice and a hint of liquorice rubber... Low carbo, close to silky mouthfeel, close full body. Not complex and not troo rich as the deep dark liquorice conquers but there’s your strong note that dominates, ravage and pillage in a defty manner. Top.

Looks and pours like motor oil, with a nice small chocolate brown creamy head. Lots of dark chocolate on the nose, along with a little mocha coffee, licorice, some booze, hint of soy. The taste is top shelf - molasses, dark chocolate, charred steak, hint of coffee, soy and a nice warming booze. Really viscous and sticky. Excellent imperial stout.

330mL bottle Properly thick sump oil looking stuff. Holds a creamy brown head - you it means business! Aroma is quite diabolical; indescribably burnt coffee, unfathomably dark chocolate with notes of currants, liquorice, charred wood, and earthy hops. Just to complete the illusion, not only does it look like sump oil, but feels like it - not that I’ve had that much experience drinking sump oil... But yeah, oily, thick, really thick, subdued carbonation, seems bigger than even 9.5% yet alcohol is not overly prominent. This beer doesn’t let you off easy - it’s intense from the word go and just holds on for dear life with lots of deep roast coffee, bitter cocoa, charred meaty notes, earthy hops, dark dried fruits, roast nuts, and a big warming bitter finish that just lingers, and lingers... Seriously good, ridiculously underrated, a contender for best Stout in Australia, no doubt!

2012/2013 editions tasted.Pours a solid opaque black with a tan head. 2012 has better lacing. Looks magnificent. Strong malty, chocolate and cocoa flavours that finish with some coffee and some warming alcohol. The 2013 has more of a liquor taste. 2012 more of a caramel flavour. Both among the best beers I’ve had

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2014 Excellent, excellent beer. Hand pump. Smooth but viscous, rich and decadent but never oppressive and boozy. Big in all the right areas, like a Brazilian model. Could drink this all day until the alcohol knocks you in to next week. World class.
