Bottle from Slow Beer May 2013. Pours dark amber almost brown and carries aromas of caramel and fresher baked cookies. Malty flavour that sits well in the mouth.

No BB date noted. Upon pouring, the off-white foam filled the 20cm tall glass to the rim and retained for a considerable time before collapsing. It produced a semi-translucent pale golden coloured liquid. Low carbonation with a few small bubbles (just about flat). Visually unappealing. Aroma nicely subtle of spicy, earthy hops plus a hint of sweet malt. Taste quite nice mild spicy and earthy hops bitterness and like an English Bitter, best served at a warmed temperature than usual for Australian beers. Light to medium body. Crisp, slightly dry, hoppy finish. Quite nice!

Bottle, 12C. Clear golden amber with an off white head that lasts well. Earthy aroma with dusty spices, some lemon, bread. Lightish bodied but just slightly chewy. Tastes as it smells - some apricot there too - with a dry, spicy bitter finish. Maybe the spiciness is a little much. Deeply refreshing. Not exciting, just good.

Bottle from Plonk. Murky copper colour, bready/doughy, with some pine hop notes too. Quite drinkable, mild bitterness, sweetish finish. It’s growing on me, might need another.

Maris (1009) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - MAY 14, 2013
From a 330ml bottle on 14/5/2013. Pours a slightly cloudy golden with a small head. Has an aroma featuring some fruity, yeasty and bready notes. The taste is a little odd - kind of earthy, with some citrus fruit, and more yeastiness. Finishes with a medium bitterness. The carbonation is medium and the palate slightly watery. Don’t quite know what to think of this. It’s a bit weird, quite interesting, yet a bit unsophisticated. Not a typical bitter.

Pours copper with a small fading head. Hoppy aroma, very spicy, herbal and earthy. Also some soft biscuity malt. Similar hoppy flavours, very English. Again there’s some malt character but it finishes very dry. Body feels watery. Hoppier than expected.
