rauchbier (3559) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2008
Bottle from Grimsby Morrisons. Gold, thin short lived white head and low condition. Pleasant citrusy sweet nose with hints of spicy hop resin and vanilla, quite sweet in the mouth with some melon fruitiness and a developing hop flower note, sweetness remains in the finish with some residual hop bitterness and a retronasal flowery perfume note

Clear 500ml bottle, best before 25 Aug 2011, drank and reviewed on 03 Nov 2010. Poured into an ’Abbot Ale’ glass tankard. Orange or light amber in colour, thin white head with plenty of carbonisation visible as well as in the mouthfeel. The seasons first hops are used to produce this beer and you can certainly smell fresh hops in the aroma given off. The taste is also a full on hoppy flavour although a semi-sweet malt finish counters the hop bitterness that doesn’t really take over completely. Morrisons (a supermarket chain) and Titanic have an arrangement to produce and sell seasonal brews. It works very well and helps to keep the price sensible too.

Aroma is very fresh, citrusy and hoppy. Flavour has a nice balance. Light and fresh with a sharp hoppy taste and a background of soft, sweet malt.

Strong malt aroma. Medium carbonation. Thin white lace. Strong bitter flavour from the hops. Mlat and hop flavour. Nice crisp refreshing ale. A very British style. Very nice beer and a great find.

I wasn’t looking for too nuch from this as I didn’t enjoy the poor Summer Fruit Beer which Titanic also made for Morrisons. However! I really enjoyed this, Lovely clean gold, thick white head lipsmacking hoppy/bitter palate with well balanced malt. The finish is long and lingering, the hops stay and dance across the tastebuds for a while afterwards.

Clear golden colour with a very thin head. Initial smell of cats wee, settling down to elderflower and hops. Slightly carbonated. Strong taste of hops and bitter.
