1.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Pours amber/red with virtually no head. Aroma and flavour of overpowering spices such as cinnamon, cloves, which i would term "autumn spices". First sip wasnít too bad. I had read the poor reviews on here, but the flavour continued to become harsher and more unpleasant. I ended up pouring the rest away - which i have not done before. Glad it was cheap!

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
[500ml bottle, gift from my wife - thanks!] [500ml bottle, gift from my wife - thanks!] Copper with a moderate but rapidly diminshing head. Surprisingly big hit of bitter and leafy hops up front, then a syrupy sweet mix of cough mixture, cinnamon and cloves. Itís an interesting concept, and I can see what they were going for here - they hoped to get some lemon from the hops to add to the spicy flavours to give you hot cross bun. Unfortunately itís the bitter leafiness of the hop thatís come throughinstead and it really doesnít work with the spices and sweetness. In fact, itís a complete unbalanced mess of a beer. Maybe it would have worked better with a purer orangey or lemony hop with no leafiness (citra?).. Still, at least itís interesting!

Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a thin white head, plenty of spices and fruit in the aroma, the taste is sour with plenty of spice coming through with a sweet finish.

1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
An interesting concept, certainly has a hot cross bun aroma, but that doesnít transfer successfully to the palate! The whole taste/palate thing seems a bit messy and unbalanced.

29th June 2010: This beer is brewed for the Morrisons Supermarket chain by Titanic and is going to be released around Easter (hence the Hot Cross Bun type name).
The beer is brewed with spices and sultana flavours?
The clear glass bottle containing 500ml of beer was poured into an íOld Speckled Hení vase shaped pint glass.
An off white head sat on top of a reddy hued amber body, clear and bright looking.
The aroma is very interesting, peppery, cinnamon and hints of treacle.
The tase follows along nicely, cinnamon and peppery, with an undercurrent of sweeter molasses/treacle and some mace added for some reason.
I found this both interesting and different, really enjoyed it and very good value.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
Well, you canít deny it tastes like hot cross buns. And root beer. And clove oil. And poison. Mulled aroma; a bit bready. Brown. Undrinkabkle. Best left in the bargain basket.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
500ml bottle. People familiar with Moray Cup (cherry soft drink in Moray, Scotland) will recognise its similarities with Hot Cross Ale. Skunky (clear bottle wonít help), terrible after-taste. Pretty awful.

Bottle. Clear bottle which wasnít a good start. Spicy aroma and low carbonation. Some citrus as well. Different and better than I had rxpected.
Why use a clear bottle especially for a beer that is displayed in a bright warm supermarket.

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
(500ml clear glass Bottle) This could be a creative concept but its in a glass bottle and made for people who like soulless novelty beer without good flavours. the nose on this does resemble a bit of hot-cross-bunnyness but its a freak show trapped in a clear glass cage.
