This is very good lambic, it smells great and has a beautiful red/brown color.
It tastes sweet but firm. lithilorn (150), Covilhã, Portugal Jun 27, 2009 ruby red body and white head. Cherries and fruity aroma. Mild cherry and apple flavor. A good lambic. A dark red, rather uclear colour with little pink head. The smell is one of cherries and fruity. The taste is, next to the cherries, surprisingly not sweet at all, but sour, like you are drinking a "Oude Kriek". Dry finish, but the taste, however seems sometimes a bit artificial (which is also the reason why this is not called "Oude Kriek" I presume). Good one to drink, but no topper in its style. Cirrhosis (550), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 12, 2009 "Rosy brown body with a pick crown floating on top, don’t know why I just don’t like the way this looks. Very mild sour cherry aroma and that’s it, simple but non-offensive smell. Taste is also very mild and simple, hints of cherry and apple juice with just some light malt. Flavour is actually just more sour then it has flavour. Has a powdery quality to it with a very dry finish. Very drinkable but this lacks any complexity and it just sucks compared to others." sebletitje (1499), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 9, 2009 25cl bottle.
pours light ruby/rose with thin white head.
aroma of cherry, light hops, plenty of fruits, elderberries, not nearly as fruity as the xtreme version.
Taste, fruity, again with cherries and elderberries, though only 15% and remain mild palate, light sugary notes with some fruit tartness.
Enjoyable, true to the style. Defreni (877), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 6, 2009 Flaske: Flot lyserød øl med et kæmpeskum. Duft af tyggegummi og en meget lille smule stald. Smagen er sød, meget sød. Ikke meget Lambeek over denne øl. cyrenaica (400), Milton, Ontario, Canada Jun 4, 2009 375ml bottle
4.5% ABV
I tried this beer on June 1, 2009 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a beautiful translucent red with a thin creamy light tan coloured head that stuckj around. The aroma was tart cherries, some wheat malt, and spice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with weak carbonation, mildly disappointing for the style. The flavour is tart, bold, with definite cherry hints, and a tart and bitter finish.
