stouby (1932), Holbaek, Denmark May 5, 2008 Bottle at Cafe Trappisten, Westmalle.
Red with a pink head, ok lacings. Aroma moderate malty (cherries). Flavor moderate sweet and sour. Light body. A ladies drink. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 4, 2008 Bottle from the LCBO. Clear ruby-red with a large pink head that leaves some beautiful lacing. Aroma of tart cherries with a slight woody character and a floral hint. Medium bodied. Flavour is very fruit forward - cherry, obviously, but also a bit of currant and cranberry - with a nice sweet-tart balance. Finishes moderately dry, with notes of oak and quick hops. Certainly not the most complex or exciting kriek out there, but still a nice refresher. mannika (98), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a pale rose, aroma is very tart and of cherries, a bit artificial however. Flavour is not bad, right amount of bitterness, and palate leaves a pretty nice finish. JaPe (69), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 2, 2008 Really good fruity Taste. The hops and cherry complement each other well. The bubbles are AWESOME. I tried the raspberry flavor of Mort Subite, but this works alot better . The fruit feels less alien to the rest of the brew. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Apr 27, 2008 375ml bottle with cork, Makes me feel fancy. 4.5% a/v
Pours a nice looking ruby red with a very light pink head. The aroma is sour cherry, and a bit citrus. The flavour itself is tart cherries with a slight hoppy note underneath. The finish is layered with sour cherry, some currants and a slight hint at the oak it is aged in. armando629 (954), Budapest, Hungary Apr 23, 2008 Nice ruby appearance with a white-pink head. The aroma is modaretad sour cherry. The flavour is soft too with cherry, some tart and a bit of hop. Sour cherry and woods(oak barrel) in aftertaste. RaphaelN (195), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Apr 22, 2008 Bottle from LCBO. More expensive than the general beers there. Fancy packaging but disappointing in its expectations. Prominent white head on a transparent red beer. Not as good as Liefman’s kriek, but still a good buy, and the only kriekbier available for purchase at the LCBO. Was a little disappointed at first but really grew to like the taste. The palate was very simple but tasty nonetheless, dominant in cherries and sweet spice. Will probably buy another one if I get a craving for kriekbiers. matt7215 (942), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2008 375 ml bottle from the LCBO. pours bright reddish/ brown with a big pink head. aromas are very soft with some cherry and some funk. flavours are similarily soft with more sweetness then the nose. decent lambic burried underneath the cherry. very easy to drink and enjoyable on a hot day but the price is so inflated it makes this treat a rare one.
