Commercial Description:
The Kriek Mort Subite is brewed according to the ancestral lambic recipe. This original Belgian beer ferments spontaneously. Enriched with cherries, it matures soft and slowly in oaken casks. To be served cool.

Bottle. Cloudy red-ochre with a thin pinkish bubbly head. Nose is sweet cherry with some sourness, some metallic notes and some malty sugar. Mouth is sweet cherry, not much else, and finishes a kind of biscuity maltiness with some almond nougat and slight metallic tones. Quite enjoyable, though a bit fizzy for my personal tastes.

Bottle, 375ml corked. (Thanks to Tom, you know who you are.) Golden-red, clear body, with an off-white head. Nice lacings. Quite sweetish on the nose, with cherry and almond. Sweet flavor as well, leaving the cherries to play the second violin, followed by a little tartness and some almondy notes. Overall it is too sweet, but it went down easily with the fruit-salad. On tap at Mort Subite in Brussels. Pours dark red with a soft pink head. Warm sweet cherry flavor, not much tartness or sourness out of this one, but not as sweet as the Lindamens Kriek in the US. Enjoyable beer to be paired with dinner.

Unfortunatly this was served too warm. Aroma had not to much cherry, rasberry and hints of nuts. Taste is rasberry more than cherry again, drinkable as not to sweet.

375ml bottle@Kristiansand lambic festival. Clear red body with a big pink head. Aroma has a lot of fruity cherry, but not as artificial as often the case when they get this heavy fruity. Flavor is rather sweet, refreshing cherry with the lambic basic still intact. Not a fully developed kriek this, but really refreshing with the genuine stuff recognizable.

Draught @ La Mort Subite. Average creamy red head that mostly diminished. Clear sparkling body with a red colour. Good display of lacework. Aroma was cookie dough, marzipan, cherry, apple and hint of pear and light citrus notes as well. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and a creamy texture. Moderated sweet cherry flavour with some acidic. Sweet marzipan and cherry finish. Lovely Kriek.

25 cl bottle. Deep red colour with a thick, pink tinged head. Aroma of syrupy cherries. Flavours were tart with some subdued red fruit and almonds. A slightly sour finish. Not nearly as good as the Oude Kriek.
