Commercial Description:
The Kriek Mort Subite is brewed according to the ancestral lambic recipe. This original Belgian beer ferments spontaneously. Enriched with cherries, it matures soft and slowly in oaken casks. To be served cool.

Bottle at ’t Loosje in A’dam. Another very sweet, rich Lambic. Reddish with nice aroma of various berries.

Bottle. One of my favorite krieks. Perfect balanced between sweet and sour. Can drink it again and again. Will go to Rob in Hesselager to buy more.

Draught from Brasserie a la Mort Subite, Brussels. Clear red in colour with whip cream-like pink head. Light, tart red berry aroma. As with the blanche, it smells of Jello. Light bodied with subtle (yet obvious), organic cherry flavour. Remarkable lacing - very intricate and pretty. One of the better krieks I’ve had - lacks the sickly sweetness typical of some and the tartness of others. Sits nicely somewhere in between. Re-rate notes (from bottle): sickly sweet and muted in taste. Watered down and artificial. If you’re gonna have it, make sure it’s from draft.

Clear ruby in colour with a very fluffy pink head, excellent retention and lacing. Soft cherry combined with some interesting sour notes (vomit, and oak). The body feels a little thin, and the finish is more bitter than sour which is a little weird and off style. Very quaffable.

On tap@ the Mort Subite Café, Brussels. 26/05/06. Cherry red body with a fairly lasting off-white head. Light to medium body, sweet cherry aroma, well balanced and sufficiently tart and easy enough to drink.

Draught, served chilled and in a bulbous tulip glass @ the Mort Subite Café, Brussels. <!-- br --> Bright, candy-apple red body, mildly carbonated with a big, messed-up, rocky, pastel-pink head that retained well and drabbed froth down the glass. Sweet cherries, cherry candi and musty old wood on the nose. Strong ripe and not too artificial cherry flavours in the mouth with a good backing of wood, crushed pale nuts, pepper and tart fruit. Body is very light, delicate with prickly, mild carbonation. Finish is lightly tart, sweet and sour, and very short. Not much else to it. Not overly sweet but borderlines it. Went down well in the heat of the day, but just wasn’t challenging enough.

Bottle from BelgianShop.com. Pours cherry red with a nice head and ghostly, spider web lacing. Aroma is strawberry and cherry. Flavor is like a cherry Icee with alcohol. Very restrained flavors. More assertiveness is needed. Jags the tongue like smooth shards of glass. Inconsistnent mouthfeel. Average.

Bottled. Clear red in colour. Foamy reddish head. Lacings. The aroma is cherry like but not too sweet. The flavour is mainly cherry, a bit on the dry side. It has a dry aftertaste.
