L’Aca, on tap. Not expecting much from this. Pretty much came in here only because it’s 5 am, I don’t have a hostel, and this place is open 24 hours. I was pretty much only looking for some delicious cherry to pass the time, and I got it. And that’s pretty much all I got. This is exactly like a pale version of New Glarus Belgian Red, a nice round and juicy cherry flavor with some warm malty things going on around it (but much less complexity and body than NG Belgian Red). Murky ruby red with pink head, island and dusting on the top with sudsy and inconsistent lacing. Racing is deep but uninteresting. Smell is straight maraschino cherry: not complex, but delicious. Great girly beer.

Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. Lots of sweet cherry with some moderate tartness and vinegar in the aroma. Pours a hazy amber with a small soapy white head. Decent lacing. Starts with moderate vinegar and cherry but then quickly turns to a sugary sweet cherry. Finishes lightly woody. A simple example of the style, but I like the cherry flavors, even if a little sweet.

Rep. for Grimbergen says made with real cherries - tastes like Marichino cherries! Tasty but cloyingly sweet in back of mouth and finish. Tasted on tap May 25.
