COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Kriek Mort Subite is brewed according to the ancestral lambic recipe. This original Belgian beer ferments spontaneously. Enriched with cherries, it matures soft and slowly in oaken casks. To be served cool.

Heerlijke frisse zurige zoete kersen aroma. Pracht donker rode uitstraling. Prikkelend zurig (creme-ig) bij binnenkomst, heerlijk zacht met een mooie balans tussen carbonatie en smaak. Heel zacht in de afdronk met een lekkere kersen smaak.

Pours a deep red with one finger of light pink head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, moderate lacing. Nose is tart cherry and light spice. Taste is medium sugary sweet and moderate tart with lingering sour. Light to medium body, prickly sustained carbonation, with an off-dry mildly sour finish. This is called a lambic on the menu. OK, yes, all krieks are lambics, so thatís technically not untrue, but come on - if you see ďlambicĒ, are you not justified in assuming itís a straight lambic? Oh well, live and learn - next time Iíll ask first. All that said, itís not a bad kriek - the cherry is strong but not artificial, and the sweetness doesnít overwhelm. Definitely a decent introduction to sours for a neophyte.

Bottle at the Merchants Inn, Rugby, 03/10/14. Clear slightly washed out cherry red with a big old crimson covering. Nose is tangy cherry, light spice, cherry tinged straw. Taste comprises sweet cherry drops, metallic rinse, damp straw, all about the cherry. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok but at the lower end of the fruit lambic spectrum, a little too sweet and not tarte/sour enough.

Bottle, 37.5cL. Home. A sparling red garnet beer with a large pinkish head ; good retention and lacing. Aroma of red berries (cherry), acid and even light woody during the first sips. Medium sugary sweet, a bit dry, light to medium acid. Light body, thin to medium texture, a bit sticky, high carbonation, acid sweet finish, light lasting sour. Overall, a beautiful beer, nice aroma and pleasant taste. Nevertheless, I prefer when itís drier and sourer to appreciate the essence of the fruit.

"Not as tart or complex as your traditional Belgian lambic. Soft cherry aroma and flavor. Nice, if a one trick pony. Very little funk/ sour. Kinda like Kasteel Rogue. Iíd get again. Good after meal drink."

About as red as it comes really. It looks like original recipe Berroca with a temporary white head that looks like spun marshmallow. Aromas of sour cherry (go figure), sweet juicy and enticing. The flavour is more tart than I was expecting, but even then it was fairly mild. It gained a somewhat acidic quality the longer it sat on the palate, which it did for a while.

250ml bottle. Clear deep ruby red color. Small size, bubbly pink head, stays. Cherry, faint sour, bit yeasty and some sweet notes in aroma. Cherry, sour, slightly sugary taste. Sharp bit, but mellow at the same time. Somewhat aggressive. Clean mouthfeel. Short cherry in aftertaste. Nice one!
