Commercial Description:
The Kriek Mort Subite is brewed according to the ancestral lambic recipe. This original Belgian beer ferments spontaneously. Enriched with cherries, it matures soft and slowly in oaken casks. To be served cool.

Dutch ratebeer meeting. Bottled 0.7 liter, best before 1990. Orange-amber coloured. Fine kriek. Old oak aroma, cork, sweet cherry 'krieken'. Bit sirupy, but not too much. More sour than sweet, which is a thing i like.

Dutch ratebeer meeting. Bottled 0.7 liter, best before 1990. Orange-amber coloured. Aroma of cork and fruits, a bit muffy as well, pretty good. Full flavoured, thick mouthfeel, very fruity. I'm not a great fan of young krieks, but at this age (approx. 15 years) it's very nice.

Pretty decent beer. Quite sweet but had a nice finish. Of course teh cherry dominates but there is evidence of some nice wheat in this one. Perfect for summer.

Pours a bright red with a fluffy slightly pink head. Had a moderately vinegary aroma. It has a nice contrast between sweet and sour. Very nice.

This beer is quite brilliantly cherry colored. The nose contains a bit of cherry as well as an aroma of acidity. With the bright red color I was expecting a quite sweet product. I was pleasantly surprised when it was only subtly sweet. The light sweetness balanced well with the cherry flavor and the natural acidity of the base Lambic.

Very red/pink colour with a surprisingly nice head. My first impressions of the aroma was not too good (sour yoghurt) but this quickly changed too a nice sweet, yet refreshing nose with cherries. This goes for the flavour too: sweet, sparkling, refreshing (acidic), and with a somewhat dry finish. This might work well as an aperitif?

With elderberries
Ruby-amber color, pale pink head. Very light cherry syrup aroma. Dry taste, with some fruits, but too poor.

Red with purple shine; pink head nearly immediately gone. Typical nose with solvent, paintstripper, estery too, rather than fruity. Sweet-sour taste, with interesting connotations as tamarind pulp, sweet fruits, smokey. Rather refreshing mouthfeel. In the aftertaste a decent bitter-woodiness is traceable. All in all not bad - just a little more outspoken sour cherries would be more convincing, instead of interesting.
