Light pink pour. Smell is sweet cherry, hint of oak. Falvor is lightly tart, mostly sweet, not a huge funkiness. Oak and metal. Okay.

Flaske delt med Kitty på hytta: enkle syrlighet kombinert med sødme og bitterhet fra kirsebær. En behagelig og ukomplisert avslutning på kvelden.

Bouteille: Hazy, reddish-amber coloured, persisting white head with a pinkish sheen, almondy sweet cherries in the delicate mouldy-sourish nose; mild sourish-sweet flavour, light bodied; kind of artificial sweet fruity finish with a delicate tartness in the aftertaste. Not really bad, still a Kriek for beginners…

It pours rose coloured with a slight orange-ish tint; the head is slightly pink tinted and foamy. The aroma has notes of: candied cherries, some barnyard funk, slight licorice, and sugar. The taste is light sweet that finishes light-medium sour/sweet; there are notes of: candied black cherries, elderberry, slight funk, and sweet mash. The palate is medium-light bodied, has medium lively carbonation, is slightly sticky, and has a medium sour finish. Overall, quite pleasant.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Ruby read pour with thick but fast dissipating pink head. The cherries make up the vast majority of the aroma, but I swear I get some yogurty notes. The flavor is more of the same, sweet cherries as you drink that quickly turns crisp and sour during the aftertaste. Very fizzy and slippery mouthfeel, almost like a sparkling wine. The 375 ml bottle I bought it in was green, but no skunkiness at all. $6.95 at Charles Street Liquor on Beacon Hill in Boston. Good drink overall, especially during a heat wave, but I’ve never had another kriek to compare it to. A style to explore more.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This pours a maroon red color with a foamy, light pink head. The aroma is rich with sweet cherries. The taste is sweet with cherries evolving into a tart finish. Decent flavor, but the texture is a little thinner than I would have imagined. A smooth, refreshing desert beer that I’m a little surprised doesn’t have a higher rating.

Drank and rated December 2011, a gift from a nice retired couple we met in Namur. Pours reddish brown, no head. Delicate sour cherry aroma and delicate sour taste. Smooth texture and subtle finish.
