Commercial Description:
The Kriek Mort Subite is brewed according to the ancestral lambic recipe. This original Belgian beer ferments spontaneously. Enriched with cherries, it matures soft and slowly in oaken casks. To be served cool.

Reddish colour with a large dense pink head. Light tart cherry fruity aroma with notes of yeast. Fruity, light tart flavor with a dry finish.

Bottled: Clear red coloured. Funny fluffy head, that disappear quickly. Has a light sour and sweet cherryaroma. Taste is sour as well as sweet, and I find it quite good. Taste vanish quickly on the palate.

Bottle, 375ml corked. (Thanks to Tom, you know who you are.) Golden-red, clear body, with an off-white head. Nice lacings. Quite sweetish on the nose, with cherry and almond. Sweet flavor as well, leaving the cherries to play the second violin, followed by a little tartness and some almondy notes. Overall it is too sweet, but it went down easily with the fruit-salad. Draft at Mort Subite in Brussels. Crystal clear ruby red colored body with a pink billowy head. Flavor of candied sweet and syrupy cherries, with a light sprite/cola brightness throughout. Soft carbonation, and overall pale and empty, lacking depth. More like cherry soda than lambic, but it does has some creamed fruit/milk notes to help balance the sugar, but overall it’s very sweet and purely commercial.

Vintage 2003: This poured out a deep orange/pink body with a minimal head. The aroma is a funky kind of a dark cherry smell. It’s a well balanced sweet-sour drink with neither side dominating... until the mildly tart finish. Nice cherry flavor.

Almonds and cream with a tart finish. This isn’t my favorite style but I do like this one.
