Spontanious weekend 07. Notes say: Cherry lambic funk, tart. Hints of sourness and rasberry is quite in here too. Quite the winner.

Draught@The weekend of Spontaaneous fermentation. Good stuff, some meaty bloody characters, mixed with a nice sour cherry flavour. Some fleshy cherry notes, but nice sour and dry. Quite good balance. Surprisingly good.

[3311-20100808] Tap. Rich wood-matured cherries aroma with notes of Belgian yeast. Slightly hazy, dark ruby red body with no lasting head. Muted wood flavour is mostly sour cherry yeast then a few seconds later is a soft cereal finish and lingering aftertaste. Medium-full body is quite sour. Quite tasty, very drinkable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at the 20th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation. It pours clear deep red, with no head or carbonation. The nose is juicy cherry, marzipan, biscuit, peach, orange and floral. The taste is quite chewy, full of tangy cherry, redcurrant, watermelon jolly rancher and some metal, with a long, dry cherry finish. A great surprise from Mort Subite, probably the best kriekenlambik I had at the festival.

@WSF. Opaque burgundy or reddish-brown. Interesting malty aroma, smells almost like a Flemish sour. Lots of grain/malt and husk in the aroma. Sikly low carbonation and soft palate. Nice lactic touch is lip-puckering, tart, and yogurty. Acidic but nice. One of the more pungent, sharp ones but I like it.

Tap, DHVL. Pours a flat ruby red body with zero head, looks beautiful and bright. The nose is nicely funky with lots of fresh sweet smelling cherry fruit. The flavor is just lightly tart with minimal acidity. Nicely sweet on the middle, fading to a dry and woody finish. Mouthfeel is fairly flat, but there’s a touch of liveliness to it. Fruity but dry with a slight tannic finish. Very nice starter for my session at DHVL!

Little cloudy red brown to purple beer, no head. Aroma: lots of cherry candy ("poepkes"), some spices, little sourish, but citric sour. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: very spicy, cinnamon, cloves, sourness, soft cherry flavours, nothing too sweet, nice tartness. Aftertaste: more spices, fruity cherry and soft citric sourness. Really good stuff.

Tap @ Bazi Bierbrasserie... Poured deep reddish with a thick, off-white head that had a mild pinkish tint to it. Dry, decent carbonation, grenadine flavors with cherry skins, candied malt, loads of sweetness and a tart yeast character. Straight forward, not overly complex but still lovely drinking. Very soda pop in character.

Sampled July 2010 at De Heeren van Liedekercke
This beer arrives from the tap with a dark purple, deep red color. The beer is flat, but there is a touch of a ring head around the edges of my glass. Fruity smelling, though I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as expressively of cherries; this smells more berry like, or perhaps sort of like red wine. When I come back to the nose after a bit I get a floral, ripe cherry note that is now much more noticeable. The cherry derived notes are definitely the dominant character in the nose, but there is also a note of popcorn some how, or perhaps it is a note reminiscent of sweet corn.
The beer is dry tasting and tart with a lactic and cherry sourness to it. Behind this is a note of sweet baby vomit. My second sip has a berry-like, red wine character being noticeable in the flavor. This is quite tannic, though it is not overly astringent. This is not very complexly flavor and more vaguely fruity with some faded cherry flavors. This would be exceedingly light and quaffable if not for the tannic, cherry skin finish.
