I’m also in that "I thought I’d rated that"-boat. Pours little head atop a copper body. Nose of vinegar and sweaty socks. Fairly tart, wet tobacco and balsamic. Good but not great.

Bottle @ home. Kind of surprised I never rated this before. Clear orange golden color, medium sized white head. Aroma is brett, lightly sourish. Taste is soft and smooth, a light sourish hint, brett, a slight hint of dried fruits, more fruity than I had expected. This is really good. Well at least, I really like it. Very well balanced, soft sourness and smooth mouthful. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep golden body with a medium white head. Nose is red berries, minty leaves, stable funk, straw, hay, lemon peel and hints of cork, cellar dust and grains. Taste is tart lemony acidic notes, straw, grains, stable funk, grass and hints of red berries and apple vinegar. Medium to light body, medium to high carbonation. Surprisingly sour and yet smooth when compared to the commercially widespread counterpart; this is how Mort Subite’s regular geuze should be in my book. I like it.

Wygląd: Głęboko złote, klarowne. Biała, średnioobfita piana.
Aromat: Kwaśny, końska derka, cytryna, wanilia jak z beczki dębowej.
Smak: Mocno kwaśne, jak sok z kiszonej kapusty, cytrynowe, trochę końskiej derki. Wytrawne, mocno cierpki finisz.
Odczucie: Nasycenie CO2 wysokie, wytrawne, cierpkie

Clear dark yellow w/ off-white lasting lacing foam head, looks as beer should look. Aroma is light sour, so is taste. Not too outspoken, still. Green apples, always taste green apples. (Antwerpen 201409)

Golden, clear, with white foam. Sour, hint of spices, and wood in the aroma. Sour, raisins hint of wood in the aftertaste.

Traditional geuze since 1972, formerly called Mort Subite Gueuze Fond, tasted under both names. Uses corn, which explains the more yellowish hue than normal in an old geuze, as well as a certain sweetness, softness and breadiness among the typical, but gentle, lambic complexity and funkiness. One of the lesser examples of the style in my taste, but obviously preferable above the ’compromized’ Mort Subite Gueuze and a good introduction to ’real’, traditional geuze.
