Just like the oude gueuze, this beer has some traits of a real kriek, but tastes sweetened and toned down. A shame.

Bottle at home, from Beermerchants.com, 12/04/14. Murky cherry red with a moderate crimson covering that retains well. Nose is tarte cherry, musty, woody twang, cherry cough sweets, cherry dipped straw, light smoke. Taste comprises cherry drops, light smoke, tangy berry fruit, soured cherry skins, woody tang, light must, funky twang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close laced with tarte cherries notes. Ok fruit lambic, pretty approachable, not too acidic.

Dark red colour, medium carbonation. Very well balanced beer. Very sour taste with fruity aroma of sour cherries. Very refreshing and very good. How a kriek should be.

25/XII/13 - 37.5cl bottle from Bezoekerscentrum De Lambiek (Alsemberg) @ my parent’s place, Christmas day, paired with turkey and creamy mushroom sauce, my alternative for cranberry sauce! 2010 harvest - BB: n/a (really?) (2013-1179)

Clear bright ruby red beer, aery off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very sour, musky, earthy, sour cherries, bit spicy. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sour start, fruity, cherries, bit lemony, hints of cinnamon, bit metallic. Aftertaste: very sour, citric, fruity, sour cherries, cinnamon, bit spicy, acidity. Very nice sour cherry beer.

Bottle, 2011. Had the 2009 and 2010 before, but 2011 is by far the best. Lots of cherries, sweet and sour taste, though mostly sour (as it should be). Clear Kriek red, pink head. Excellent oude kriek, especially for a Mort Subite.

Vintage 2006. Swietny Lambick mocno owocowy i przy tym diabelsko wytrawny, metny jakby miazsz z wisni, pewnie polskich. Malo piany, jak w nalewaniu wina. Cos wspanialego. Wspaniala alternatywa dla drogich wytrawnych win. I cudnie pasuje do czerwonego miesa.

Mort Subite’s Oude Kriek 2010 Vintage, bottle from Ohtsuki Saketen. 6.5% it pours a ruby pink with a light head of thin foam. Very effervescent. Sour tart fruity cherry aroma with a touch of earthiness. The taste is sweet & sour with a tart cherry bite. It brings to mind a fresh cherry danish! I like this a lot.

Une belle bière de couleurs ruby. Une belle odeur de cerise bien mure avec une légère touche d’amande certainement apporté par le noyau. De fine bulle typique d’une pure. Une légère acidité persistante.
