Bottle from the Republique Monoprix. Pours hazy light gold with a transient white head. Aroma is a very, very light gueuze. Maybe with a citrus hint. It’s a really light scent. Med minus body. Flavor is citrus and ? It’s not unpleasant, but it’s not much at all, flavor wise.

C’est trop sucré, un goût de cerise chimique, très pétillante, une bière particulière pour la soif.

0,25L bottle (from Koht). Pours hazy golden with white head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, wheat, fruits, bakers yeast. Flavor is sweet, very weak sourness, wheat, bakers yeast with sugar, fruity-raspberry like notes. Overall: it’s currently under unblended lambic, wtf?! This has nothing to do with unblended lambic or even with lambic at all. Ohh and why did they put pure bakers yeast in my beer?!

The updated version of Mort Subite Blanche, since a couple of months. Very dense, thickly lacing, whipped cream-like, snow white head over a hazy golden blonde beer with greenish hue; looks very much like a witbier indeed. Aroma of candied lemon, powder sugar, banana-flavoured bubblegum, cinnamon, sweetbread, orange lemonade, perfumey bath foam, lime juice, coriander. Sugary sweet onset, bubblegum- and lemonade-like, some artificial citrus with a faint chemical bitterishness next to it, slick and rather thin body with spritzy carbo, wheat flavour blended with pale malt sweetness, lemonade-like sourishness continuing but nothing really lambic-like and persisting till deep into the finish, along with the sugar sweetness (but not overly cloying), some dull coriander and wheat taste; no real bitterness apart from a very faint chemical wryness, fortunately not strong enough to become truly bothersome. A faint ’chalky’ effect lingers as well. What most bothers me, is the one-sided, boring sugar sweetness which dominates this beverage; lambic as such is unnoticeable, this is another sweet ’deterioration’ of lambic culture - just now that authentic lambic beers are enjoying renewed attention. Seems like an even more simplified Heineken-conducted version of the original Mort Subite Blanche, which was in itself already a boringly sweet witbier interpretation with practically no lambic qualities (and a clone of what Timmermans had done before, by the way). Artificial, rather ’unbeery’ and too sweet: clearly nothing of interest here. Lastly: who classified this here as an ’unblended lambic’?? Granted, the idea is difficult to categorize in the styles recognized here, but I think witbier or even fruit beer would give a more accurate idea to consumers who consult this site on this particular beer...

Bottle from Belgiuminabox.com . Pours unclear blonde. small white head fades rather fast. Smell is overly sweet, chemical and just bad. Taste is bit bitter, sweet , candy-necklace thingies all over again. Lambic you say ???? No funk, no sourness whatsoever... Maybe some 16 y old girls could get happy by drinking this, but I certainly don’t
