Cask (handpump) at the Wenlock Arms, April 2008. A new brewery for me. According to the brewery website this is a November to February seasonal but they have presumably made this one a bit later. Very dark - almost black. Nice smooth malty aroma. Quite dry on the palate. Heavily roasted. Lots of chocolate. Really appealing roasty bitterness on the finish. A very impressive first encounter.

Cask at the Wenlock Arms, 19th April 2008, with Chris, Ian, Mes & the gang. Pure black with a little tan foam which leaves lacing. Strong aroma of blackcurrant and roast malt. Fruity on the tongue but with a great dry bitterness. The short finish is the only slight let down. A great stout.

Cask handpull at Wenlock Arms. Black with thin tan head. Very choccy, very bitter from the roasted malt. Some dryness. Slightly smokey. Good stout.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock.
Black as they come with no light penetration what so ever. Very thin tan head but good condition. Massive blackcurrant aroma with a sweet chocolate malt backing. Flavoour of roasty dark chocolate malt, good bitter coffee, a bit of rubber and a sweet yet dry finish. Very good.

Cask (handpump) @ Wellington, Birmingham B2, UK. Clear medium black color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, strong coffee, smoke, peat. Flavor is moderate sweet and heavy to harsh bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft / flat. (110108)
