Honey smell; rich golden/light amber, clear, white foam, frothy; light sweetness, lightly bitter; light body, flat; nice but not outstanding.

The nutty taste, dark honey color and surprising lightness of this beer makes for a refreshing brew on a hot summer day. Nice, but short lived head ends up working well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I have never been a big fan of Martellina, Mostodolce’s most celebrated ale and one of the famous honey beers of Italy’s craft scene; definitely too sweet, and too much honey starting from the nose. Body is thick and syrupy, very hard to finish even a small glass.

Wild honey smell but not much else. White head that disappears quickly. Honey, malty and faint chestnut but not other tastes. Too sweet and not enough carbonation.

Profumo leggero, sapore ottimo, retrogusto di miele facile da individuare, si lascia bere facilmente.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity, light honey. Mild sweet, creamy and mild bitter. Light herbal into a medium dry finish.

Van de tap@ mostodolce in Florence. Donkergele kleur, vaste kraag. Weinig aroma en ook weinig smaak, wat zoetig. Wel een vol bier kwa mondgevoel maar weinig koolzuur, net alsof het al een uur gestaan heeft. Ik had er meer van verwacht.

Thanks to Anita, bottle 75cl, Firenze, Mostodolce. Sweet walnuts aroma with tones of alco, a bit oaky or earthy. Colour is dark amber, clear with white-fast head. Taste is most thankful - sweet with a bit spicy astringent and minimal tannin dry finish. Almost no bittery from hops. Mid body, soft carbonation, a bit oily. Pleasant from SHV series.

On tap at Mostodolce, Florence. Sweet wheat orange, floral and citrus and sugar cane, light amber but unfiltered so cloudy. Great beer but in a larger beer culture this might not stand out.

Martinus (2744) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 9, 2012
Amber gold colour, beige dissipating head. Aroma of hops, sweat, marijuana, chestnut, later some citrus, honey and soap come up. Flavour of honey, somewhat sweet, malts, very light bitterness. Finish is honey, malts, chestnut blossoms, fresh bitter, slightly ’weeig’ (sickly, in lack of a better translation).
Interesting flavours, strange but quite balanced.
(From 50cL bottle @ 2nd Tuesday tasting, De Molen, Bodegraven. BB 16-06-’12)
