Aroma: Smelling of burnt toast and cold coffee, soy sauce and darkness.
Appearance: A blackish brown ale, a tan head, good lacing and good curtains.
Taste: The taste starts with dark rye bread, cold coffee, some dates and fermented blackberries, soy sauce.
Palate: Little carbonation, a soft and fresh texture, but a very dry finish.
Overall: A nice burned dry stout - but no empire here!
Note: On-tap at De Klomp Reviewed 2012-05-07.

330 ml bottle courtesy of rlgk. Consumed on December 26. Pours very dark chestnut brown, almost black, with a mocha head that clings to the glass while dissipating. Smell has roasted malts, pine, elderberries and hints of juniper. Taste is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with toasted malts, wood, resin, coffee and hints of juniper, black currant and elderberries. Finish is rather dry and slightly bitter.

Bottle, september 8th 2013. Black body, vanishing beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice. Taste of coffee, spicy yeast esters, caramel and hops. Short roasty finish, with a pleasant bitterness. Not a stout with strong taste by any means, but still actually quite enjoyable.

Nice to try one of these, something that I haven’t done before this. 6% impy? Nah. But let’s see what it’s all about. Dark brown/black body with an ENORMOUS off white head. Slightly smokey aroma of... Eh. Lentils or chickpeas. Strange. Fava beans, coffee and chocolate in the soft, peany malty taste. Lovely, pillowy mouthfeel, but... strange. Damn strange.

Bottle at Omhper’s - Very dark brown, almost black, in colour. Roasted malt, plain chocolate and something strange that I can’t put my finger on in the aroma. Roasted and quite bitter taste with notes of plain chocolate and roasted malt.
