3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
2013 Bottle from brentk56 - thanks!. Pours opaque black, medium deep brown head, creamy and slow to dissipate with nice lacing behind. Aroma is tart(!), oak, bourbon, roast, cocoa. Flavor is very light tart, medium sweet, light bitter, a bit acetic. roasty, cococa. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Still a solid beer, but it seems like a weak infection going on.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
My Bottom Line:
Dark chocolate and coffee roastiness are enveloped in suave bourbon and its fruity vanilla in this plump, soft Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam tops the darkness.
-The nose on this one is appropriately decadent.
-While the nose has tons to offer, the flavor profile lacks malt depth, relying instead on the barrel to offer most of the fun.
-Alcohol follows the wooden trails.
Bottle, as Silent Night.

Bottle, via b3shine (thanks Beau!), and enjoyed fittingly on Christmas Eve. Very dark brown with copper highlights and a lasting tan head. Heavy bourbon presence on the nose and palate, dark caramel and roast. Warming finish, a touch boozy. Nice, but a bit hot.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Vintage 2013, 22oz bottle from SoHo in Elizabeth City compliments of Zizzybalubba, thanks homes. Deep black hue, with two finger thick frothy medium brown head, excellent lacing. Aroma of booze, bourbon, dark fruits and hints of vanilla. Dark fruit and bourbon tastes up front with a dark malt and chocolate finish. Some cherry taste on the end when this warms. I also had some smokey tastes as well. Creamy mouthfeel on palate with a dry finsih. This was a good beer to end Christmas day with especially when you throw in a leg lamp.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft. 2010 Vintage at Brawley’s Beverage Charlotte, NC. Sampled 11/28/2014. Man, typically I don’t go crazy for barrel-aged imperial "whatever" often I find the result too hot, too cloying, too distracted, and a mess of a beer. Not the case with this one. Aroma is light of chocolate bars, french pressed coffee, white oak. Taste is wonderful of deep, dark chocolate notes, oak, espresso, light bourbon that accents the finish, not take away from it. This is a great beer. Perhaps my problem with barrel aged beers is I’m not patient enough. I tend to drink them young and not developed fully. If you can every get your hands on a 2010 vintage of this do it now! Great beer. Thanks Mike for the chance to sample this, I know there won’t be a second time.
